I selected AARP MedicareComplete Insurance because my primary care physician is listed on their site as "in-network" doctor. They issued me an ID card with the doctor's name as the PCP. After my first visit to his office, I was billed for an out-of-network office visit because the claim submitted used an ID number for an out-of-network doctor. The doctor's office states the the ID United Health Care has listed has not been used for several years.

After repeated calls and over three months time, the insurance company has not resolved this issue and to this date, my doctor is still listed as in-network even though any visits to him are billed as "out-of-network". It seems that United Health Care does not have an updated "in-network" physicians listing. Therefore any decisions in selecting a health care provider based on this listing may lead to unexpected charges. At this point I do not know what doctors I can use and at what cost.

By not keeping their in-network physicians list up-to-date, they are intentionally misleading individuals to signing up with their health plans.
