i was sold a policy of partial disability from Aflac i was told i would get paid for the time i was off before i gave birth. i told the Representative who sold me the policy that i was 3 months pregnant at the time. he congratulated me and filled the papers out and had me sign them. i had my daughter in August of 2008, i filed the claim form and received a letter stating i was not going to get paid because i had a Preexisting condition of a pregnancy... the representative from Aflac sold me the policy knowing very well i would not be receiving a cent from the company that was very wrong and misleading...

i have tried to ask who i have to talk to about getting my money back and I'm told there's nothing that can be done. i was told they can only go back 90 day and refund me... they've been getting money from be since 3/1/2008... i need that money for my daughters many needs...

#1 Employee

Did you read your policy?

AUTHOR: Smokkinu - Germantown (U.S.A.)

Perhaps your rep was confused by your question, because looking at the policy you purchased, it says, and in plain bold type, a pre-existing condition such as a pregnancy IS NOT COVERED.

I work for Aflac, and make every attempt to answer any and all questions to the employees. But it seems too many employees are only listening to what they WANT to hear, and not actually reading the policys. Then get upset when something is not covered.

If in fact you made your question clear, you may be able to go after the individual reprepsentative for misleading you, certainly not AFLAC's fault though, as in the contract before you sign it, and the literature the rep's are required to give to you before you enroll, say in print what they do and do not cover. In very clear english, even spanish for those who only read that too :)

Hope this helps.

Well, actually

AUTHOR: Lisa D - Bondsville (U.S.A.)

If the employee did in fact misinform the policy holder it should be Aflecs fault, or at the very least it should be their responsibility. They are responsible for training their employees and making sure they are knowledgable in the field. If they give false information as a way to sell a policy then Aflec needs to eat it.
