I purchased a lifetime membership in 2006 from 24 Hour Fitness.  When I received my membership card they spelled my first and last name wrong.  I asked them to fix it because I have a tendency to lose my card.  They agreed and made a copy of my driver's licence.  My new card had the same wrong first and last name.  I eventually lost both cards.  They normally send me a paper in the mail to renew my membership every year.  I didn't receive my renewal notice last year in 2010.  They did however call me in September.  I said because it's a recession and I don't know if it's really 24 hour fitness or someone pretending to be them to get my credit card information if they can send me a paper in the mail.  I waited about a couple weeks and I didn't receive anything.  I went to 24 Hour Fitness to pay and they couldn't find any of my information on the computer, not my name, phone number, or address so I couldn't pay my renewal fee.  My husband called their 800 number and they couldn't find any of my past or present information on the computer.  I went to 24
Hour fitness on April 8, 2011 when I found my card.  They said that I no longer have a membership and to call 24 Hour Fitness.  I called today on April 18, 2011.  They said that they cannot reinstate my membership because it has already been terminated.  I explained to them that I couldn't pay at the 24 Hour Fitness location because they weren't able
to find my information through my name, all the addresses I had since the start of the membership, or the phone numbers I had.  There were times when I didn't have my card, they couldn't find me in the computer, and I couldn't use the gym.  I spent around $1,000 for this lifetime membership.  What I want is for them to change my name like promised,
have my information able to be looked up in the computer at the locations in case I lose my card again, to let me pay for my renewal, and to reinstate my membership.  If not, then I want my money back that I paid them so I can get a membership somewhere else.
