FTF Industries Cashed my check; won't return my emails; haven't sent my products Hickory North Carolina

I've heard some things about this company taking a while to ship an order, but without keeping the buyer updated after having received and cashed payment, I feel something is off. I submitted an order 3 weeks ago, and have attempted contacting the individual numerous times, but have received nothing back, aside from the initial order confirmation. I am hoping I won't have to hold the threat of legal action over anyone's head, but if one can't get through to discuss the status of one's order, a prudent person can only wait so long before doing something.
