I have been the victim of an Internet scam. I agreed to a once off payment to be charged to my credit card of $2.80 from auction monster and my credit card has now been charged $69.00. I have made every effort to contact them on the Internet and there is no email address and the phone number is USA only. I need help to get this money back. I have 3 children and cannot afford such a charge. It was done on such false pretences and I will never ever enter my credit card details on the net again.

Did you read the Term and Conditions?

AUTHOR: Angie - Rome (U.S.A.)

Not saying that you didn't get scammed, but from being a member of a GPT site, where this was an offer in the past that I have done, I know you have to read the Terms carefully. It is clearly listed in the Terms that the original charge is only for shipping on the product, and you are signing up for a free trial and will be charged again if you do not cancel or return the product within the specifies time frame.

This is copied directly from the current terms and can be found here: https://auctionmonster.securemediacenter.com/terms.html

Fees and Pricing

If Affiliate's payment is not submitted either by credit card or check within 30 days of the due date, Affiliate's web site and services will be suspended. If Affiliate wishes to cancel and not be billed, Affiliate must call 1-800-609-5118 or write to Auction Monster, 16192 Coastal Highway Lewes, DE 19958. Affiliate also agrees to monthly billing. Affiliate expressly agrees to honor all charges and fees due.

Terms and Conditions on a Bait and Switch?

AUTHOR: Ken - Tigard (U.S.A.)

I must disagree with the other rebuttal. If you go to https://auctionmonster.securemediacenter.com/ you'll see that the contract they are trying to establish with you is a simple product purchase. For a set amount of money you will receive a physical good. In this case, a "starter kit".

Instead, later on in terms and conditions they spell out that you are really purchasing a subscription. The small text that explains that they will charge you again are "below the fold" of the page. That is, on most monitors you would have to scroll down to even see those. They don't even list this great subscription as part of the 6 items you will receive with your "starter kit".

It's bait and switch, and seems very likely that it's fraud.
