On 3/20/07 our company Sunset Decks received a phone call from the lumber manager at lowes stating that they no longer were carrying cedar boards and if we were interested he would sell them for $1 per board regaurdless of size or length.
Upon arrival we were asked how many we wanted, at which time we stated that if they were willing to give them to us at the above price we would take everything they had in stock. When they found out we were willing to take it all he agreed to sell it for .25 a board. The deal was made and agreed upon. It was approved by 4 different managers. The payment was made and a time and date for delivery were set up at that time.
Approx a few hours later we received a call stating that they could not follow through with the sale. they offered to refund our money, however 6 business deals were made in this time based on the materials we were to receive from them, not only were deals made, but several loads of lumber were cancelled from another lumber co. we use.
Now as a result we have lost several deck deals because we have had to put them on hold, change prices, etc. and that was understandably acceptable, because as a customer they shouldnt have to be put off time and again, much like lowes is doing to us. There is currently not been a resolution to this issue. I am waiting to speak with the district manager.
