I just happened to read this rip off report and in defense of the hardware store, Troybilt is a very difficult company to deal with. They infact are no longer an independent company and are now owned by MTD. In order to get authorized warranty repairs the consumer would need to take the machine to a repair shop that covers the warranty work for MTD machines. Because of the change in manufacturing they tend to be a lesser quality machine and often mislead their customers into buying the equipment beccause of the name.
In this case I would have to say that yes infact it is not the ideal situation for the consumer to be in but in order to avoid such situations in the future, heavy research on quality machines would be in the consumers best interest.
Also in defense of your Ace Hardware experience, many consumers do not realize that all ace hardwares are independently owned and that i hope you find a better experience at another Ace Hardware.
