Pottery Barn ripoff your furniture orders for "free/no delivery charge" means the fee is actually built into the price. Nationwide

I just thought I'd inform everyone that when Pottery Barn says they're shipping your furniture orders for free/no delivery charge, the fee is actually built into the price. Therefore, there is no free delivery & if you happen to live right next to the store, you'll pay the same as someone who lives a whole state away because everyone gets that "free delivery". Just thought eveyone should have a heads up on that.

That's not true The shipping is added, not part of the price

AUTHOR: J - 92111 (U.S.A.)

I worked for Pottery Barn for several years. I sold a lot of furniture.

The shipping is added, not part of the price. I must have written up well over a couple hundred furniture orders, and I added shipping on all of them. Except of course on any order that was a result of a customer service snafu, then I waived the shipping.

Of course the charges are built into the sale price!

AUTHOR: Tim - Winnebago (U.S.A.)

Well DUH! Just exactly did you expect Pottery Barn to cover these costs? When they figure retail prices, they have to make sure the profit margin is high enough to cover shipping. Sometimes (like if you live next door) they make more, and sometimes (if you live a whole state away) they make less. I'd even guess that sometimes the shipping costs may even be more than the profit on the product. This works because of volume and averages. Welcome to the way business works.

AMAZING DISCOVERY

AUTHOR: Cory - San Antonio (U.S.A.)

What a totally amazing discovery. The price of delivery is ADDED into the price of the furniture. Who would have thought. Who would have guessed. The nerve of Pottery Barn to do that without telling anyone. Tell us, how did you discover this unknown fact? I'm sure glad you told us. I thought it was free too. I also thought they had; Santa, The Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy do their deliveries. You wouldn't by chance be a blonde, would you?

you poor confused soul

AUTHOR: Ripped_off007 - Las Vegas (U.S.A.)

If you order through the retail store the shipping is included in the price. If you would check out the catalog or website you may notice the price is lower becuase the shipping is charged seperate. People who shop at Pottery Barn have enough money and should be worried about an extra $50 anyways!
