APX Alarm Security Solutions Said that they would enter into our records that we would be moving and would waive the 2 year agreement. Provo Utah

In June of 2007 there were several Apx salemen going through new neighborhoods (Montgomery IL, outside of Chicago) selling alarm systems. Door to door salemen are how this company operates. Unfortunately, this was the last day they were offering free installation and we had to make a decision right then and there. We didn't have time to research the company or contact the Better Business Bureau to see if there were complaints against them.

My husband was in the processing of negotiating a job change which would have us relocating to another state. We were very specific when we told our salesman that a relocation was a matter of "when" not "if". We were going to get an alarm systems whether it was with Apx, Brinks or ADT. Our salesperson supposedly called his supervisor and told him/her that we were going to install a security system and would like to have the Apx system but would be moving at some point during the year. I say "supposedly" because our record was supposed to have been documented with this information, so we could get out of the two year obligation. Now that the move is here there is no record of this.

We had to sign a two year contract which we did thinking that we would be able to get out of it when the time came. When I called Apx to see if we could suspend the service until our new house was built in another state then we would install a new Apx system and finish out the remaining year on the contract. I was told that we couldn't suspend the service and finish it out at the new location. Our choices were to have the buyers of our house take over the remaining year's payments (subject to Apx approving them) or to have Apx come out and remove the system and install it at the new location.

The latter was unacceptable. One of the big selling points from our saleman was that they system stays with the house. The equipment is not leased and therefore no holes or marks on the wall if we move. I don't have time or the desire to take the fix the walls where the system would be removed.
