A salesman came to our home to sell us an alarm system.
He was a nice enough guy, and he seemed really genuine as he represented Platinum Protection. They promised to have the system installed and running that evening, which they did. The salesman also promised to pay the first 2 months, and he promptly went to the ATM and handed me cash for the first 2 months of service, all from his personal account.
When we had a false alarm a few months later, we found out from the county that the alarm had to be registered with them, and they promptly added on fees because it had not been registered by Platinum Protection.
When I called the company, they promised me that they would take care of the fees from the county and also take care of the registration for the alarm to our county. I sent all the information in, and nothing was taken care of.
Six months later, the county called me and informed me that the registration still had not been taken care of and the fees and interest were increasing. I called the company again, and they promised again to take care of it, and still did nothing.
I called them a third time and told them that if it was not taken care of immediately, I would stop payment until it was. Still they did nothing. I stopped paying the monthly bill, and the bill got up to $140 after several months.
I then received a letter from Platinum Protection's attorney, who said that my bill is now up to $1,388.54 and that our account had accrued principal and interest.
When I called Platinum Protection again, Mike (agent #1223) told me that they have nothing to do with my account anymore and it had been sold.
Even though Platinum Protection violated their contract by not doing what they promised, they still expected payment. I don't know of anyone in this country that would continue to pay a company when they did not deliver on what they promised.
When I called Anderson, Crenshaw & Associates, (the company Platinum Protection sold us to) all they would say was "Get a lawyer!"
It seems now that any company can make up numbers and say you owe them, and then destroy your credit because you refuse to be blackmailed!
And I thought blackmail was illegal in this country!!
