First American sent sub -contractor to home to repair air conditioning unit. After $55.oo service fee contractor added on &460.00 in "non-covered " fees.
Fees include huge markups ie.$150.oo for $40.oo permit. When contacted, First American told me that they allow contractors to charge what ever amount they want. I was also told others had paid over $1.ooo for the same service. This is not in their contract. If they set no controls for their contrators there is no warranty, in fact one is better off using the yellow pages. Eight days post my intial call my unit still has not been repaired.

My four year old has asthma , and has needed several breathing treatments. I have had to throw out over $200,oo worth of food. The past six days it has been over 100 degrees. I have spent over twelve hours on the phone with them since last week, I still do not have the appt for the final repair!! My advice .. contact the BBB if you have a bad exp. with First American. Write letters to all local Real estate providers asking them to no longer endorse First Amerian. Write letters to all new home owners letting them know you have asked their real estate agent not to endore this company. Call and write every single Board member at their home office. Buy stock and attend share holders meeting. Organize people in your area and send them the same message , Enron, World com and Adelphia received. Enough is enough!
