We recently stayed at this motel on our last day in Oregon. We awoke Sunday morning to find our truck gone! The manager of the motel told my husband that this was the second time in a week that a vehicle was stolen from their parking lot. I realize that they are not responsible for our vehicle and all it's contents but they should have a warning for all their customers about this.
I also found out that this area where the motel is, is a bad area and their are muggings, shootings, drug busts there at least once a week. They didn't even offer to forfeit the bill! I will never stay at that Motel again nor in that area! Why didn't they warn us that vehicles have been stolen from this area? We could have taken precautions or chose not to stay there.
As it is, the truck was right outside our door with the alarm set and doors locked. They didn't give us a choice, nor do they give a damn!

I am also not happy with the police dept in Springfied Oregon! Our truck was found..... right around the corner from the Best Western motel we stayed in! It took them a week to find it!!! And then, the punks who took it, took all of my husband fishing gear and our digital camera and left everything else! We couldn't get anywhere with the police up there and now we have to pay for a police report. Don't EVER stay in Eugene Oregon!!!!! It is an ugly place and no one is very helpful up there at all!!!

People from Eugene Oregon often refer to Springfield as Syringe-Field. It is full of Tweekers and idiots, but Eugene is not that way. If you'd have driven a mile or two to Eugene and paid the extra few dollars for a room there, you wouldn't have had that experience.
Also, there is no area of Eugene or Springfield that has that high a crime rate....check your facts. We are a very small area with only what we like to call "wannabe criminals".

I am very sorry this happened to you, but really I cannot see your reasoning for blaming the hotel. If the hotel had been directly involved, one of the employee's stole the truck, I can see the legitamacy of the complaint. A employee did not steal it however, someone whom the hotel had no control over is the one who stole it.
To blame the hotel would be the same as if the truck had been stolen at wal-mart ( or any other public place for that matter ) surely you could not hold that buisiness responsable for the crime, ask wal-mart for a discount or a refund on everything you purchased at the store, while the truck was being stolen.
As far as the manager warning you, how in the world was they supposed to know it would happen again. I had a snowmachine stolen last year, the last time anything was stolen in my area was a good 5 years ago, does this mean that i tell my guests, your in a high crime area beware ? LOL No I do not, a theft, murder, accident can happen anywhere at anytime, no one can predict that .
In closing, I do not think this motel deserved the type of feed back left here. I am sure it was a very emotional time for you, but lay fault where fault is due, and thats not with the motel but with the person/people who stole your truck.

AS A HOTEL MANAGER IN FLORIDA CITY FLORIDA, I FEEL THAT THE HOTEL WAS LACKING IN THE INDUSTRY STANDARD OF DUE DILIGENCE. I HAVE AN OBLIGATION TO ENSURE A CLEAN AND SAFE ENVIROMENT FOR MY GUESTS AND EMLOYEES. ANYTHING LESS IS UNACCEPTABLE. WE TOO AS IN ANY TOURIST AREA, EXPERIENCED A CAR THEFT. WE RESPONDED BY HIRING A SECURITY COMPANY. A SMALL PRICE TO PAY TO BE CRIME FREE FOR THE LAST THREE YEARS.
