My wife Susan and I visited Sedona and the Grand Canyon and had a wonderful time.

Unfortunately Susan injured her knee coming out of the airport and found it difficult to walk for a few days so we had to curtail some of our early plans.

When we reached the Best Western Arroyo, The Front Desk Manager saw our predicament and called Arizona Balloon Rides to cancel our reservation for the next morning's sunrise flight.

The person at the balloon company said there would be no problem. Later in the day Mike King, the owner called and told me there was no problem with canceling, but, to get in touch with Alcatraz Media (Sedona Tours) and let them know, because the tickets were bought through them. I called and left a message - they don't offer an agent to talk to - and also faxed the information in the morning since they only communicate in writing. Because his agent and Mike himself said he had no problem, I thought the issue was settled.

I am now out of pocket $525 to Visa, because Alcatraz Media says that Mike King told them that we did not say we were definitely canceling, even though the Hotel Desk Manager and I confirmed cancellation on two separate calls.

Sedona tour/Alcatraz Media Rip offs

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 07, 2008

Unfortunately the response from Mr. Windsor is how he responds to everything. He believes his company is infallible.

I for one know that this is exactly how Alcatraz advertises because the company I worked for several years ago was threatening legal action against the company for advertising and selling packages for my company against our wishes. The company will tell all their clients that they are the tour operator when in fact they operate as no more than a travel agent.

The fact that Mr. Windsor can't find the customers name in his database is no surprise because that was a regular occurrence with his company and one of the reason we didn't want our name on any of his companies web sites. His companies mode of operating is that they will be nice to you to get the sale but the second that you ask for help or question anything they tell you that they are either nor responsible for it or that they won't help you because it's against the contract which by the way is illegal in some states because of some of the wording.

Alcatraz has many web sites out there and also goes by the name of Round America. When ever they start to get legal trouble they might even make another LLC named something like the tour they're trying to sell to make it look legit.

Be very careful of Alcatraz and William (Bill) Windsor and his sons.

Completely False Complaint - They Never Took a Tour with Us.

AUTHOR: Alcatraz - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 30, 2008

This complaint is completely false. First of all, the address and phone numbers listed do not belong to my company. After a little research, the phone number that this bogus report listed as ours rings to a skydiving company in Illinois. We are not affiliated to this company in any way. The address they listed as ours isn't even a real address in Arizona. No company is registered to that addressit is just made up.
Further, this complaint is registered by Bob and Susan Selden from New York. We have never had a Bob Selden or Susan Selden take a tour with our company in any of our markets. We even searched every Bob or Susan in our records and could not find anybody who has ever taken a balloon tour with us in Arizona, or anywhere else for that matter. This complaint is clearly false, and is likely one of our competitors trying to make us look bad.
If this is a real complaint, Bob or Susan Selden should be able to provide a tour ID number. They won't have this information since they never booked with us, so I challenge them to provide the proper details or revoke this make believe writeup.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

you are right

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, March 25, 2007

You called and cancelled, you have witnesses that you cancelled, you also cancelled for a good reason (an injury). You deserve to have your money refunded. Send them a certified letter explaining in detail what happened and renmind them what they had told you. Ask for your refund. If they do not comply with your request then start writting letters to ...right here RIP-OFFREPORTS.COM, also alert the BBB and send a letter to the Arizona Attorney genrals office. In addition you may also want to alert the Sedona Chamber of Commerce and the AZ chamber of Commerce. See if some of this letter wrtting will get somebody doing something. If not..well theres always small claims court, AZ judges dont like businesses ripping people off.Good luck.
