Bank of America pulls another fast one to save themselves money and rip off their customers.  A letter was sent to customers with the US Airways debit card saying they were closing the program, but you could still use your card and continue to accrue miles up until September 30, 2012 even though they would be sending out replacement debit cards to take the place of the discontinued ones.  They closed my debit card two months early, just because they can, and won't reopen it.  I didn't ask them to close it, it just stopped working. Once closed, always closed, according to two levels of customer service.  Don't have a new replacement card?  Oh well, go to the branch and work it out.

Here is the exact written contract they provided after the program was terminated.

"We're discontinuing our debit card program with US Airways as of September 30, 2012. You can continue to use your US Airways debit card to earn Dividend Miles until that time.

In August, we'll replace your US Airways debit card with a Bank of America debit card. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and want to help make the transition to your new card as smooth as possible.

You'll receive a replacement debit card in August. And, even though your debit card number will be changing, the basics, such as your checking account number and PIN will stay the same. Keep in mind that certain features offered with your US Airways debit card, including Travel Accident Insurance, Purchase Security and Extended Protection Benefits, will no longer be offered after this program ends. You'll receive a refund for a portion of your US Airways debit card annual fee. If you've already been charged the $30 annual fee, you'll receive a refund for the months the program is not available. The amount will be credited to your checking account the last week in April. If you havent been charged your annual fee for the year, we'll determine the amount you will be charged based on the number of months left in the program. We will charge that amount on your normal renewal date.

Your Dividend Miles account with US Airways will not be affected, and you'll keep any miles you've earned. Through September 30, 2012, transactions you make using your US Airways debit card will continue to earn miles - even if you've already activated your new Bank of America debit card. After September 30, you can keep and use the miles you've already earned according to the US Airways Dividend Miles program rules."
