My honest opinion a review of Butch Lee Baker, Jr of B&B HandymanServices
LLC, Oklahoma City, OK.
Chapter 1 The Beginning.

This year my husband and I decided that we wanted to do a major remodel of our home.  We had decided, based on our tax refund, that we could afford to get our shower redone, have a new shelving unit put in our family room, replace the carpet in the kids bathroom with tile, some minor home fixes, and some new electrical put in to hang our television
over our mantle.  We originally contacted and entered into a contract with Butch Lee Baker, Jr., of B&B HandyManServices, a handyman, who had a very impressive website, had positive reviews, won a handyman
award, and was supposedly so up to snuff that Channel 4 On Your Side, allowed him to advertise on their website.

Unfortunately, Butch was not all that he was suppose to be and for the most part is just a con man trying to get money out of you.  Butch was fired and I was mad and sad that my husband and I had let Butch bilk money out of us.   The list of
things he was to do: (1) drywall repair in hallway & study; (2) texture painting in hallway & study; (3) door kit for study so door will close; (4) Fix & Repair moisture damage in dinning room as bay window sill and wood underneath needed attention; (4) Take old wood out, sand, paint and spray lacquer to match; (5) build cabinet unit in family room to match existing unit on other side of fireplace; (6) mount television above mantel; (7) build custom shower in master bath by
gutting old shower to studs, adding water line, moving water line, installing rain shower and jets, and putting back hand held shower wand as well; (7a) taking out previous whirlpool tub and purchasing smaller whirlpool tub only after contract was already signed and dated because originally Butch Baker said custom shower was possible, but after taking
old shower out there wasn't enough room for entry and he instructed us to pull old whirlpool tub to make entry into shower bigger and replace old tub with new smaller whirlpool tub; we weren't prepared nor financially sound for this. It was extremely unprofessional and difficult for us considering the initial monies were already reserved and now come to find out we have to pay more, was frustrating. (8) Tile shower w/mosaic we initially picked out but found out afterwards that the mosaic we wanted he didn't purchase he purchased what he wanted and didn't follow our original ask to make it like the picture, so all the supplies he bought had to be taken back and then we went on a wild goose chase to get the mosaic we wanted; (9) carpet removal in Jack and Jill bathrooms upstairs to lay tile; and (10) hang pot rack in kitchen.

 Chapter 2 - The Storm.

It began as a trickle, little things not having the right material, running out of material, having to look for material, and having to dealwith the mistake that is Butch Baker. The first big issue, and where the crack in our working relationship began, was the shower. Originally, the plan was for the shower to be enclosed and to be equipped with a rain shower head, jets, a hand wand the full spa experience.  However, because Butch Baker failed to understand what needed to be done, it did not become apparent until well into the project that the bathtub would need to come out and be replaced as well, so that there would be enough room to allow someone to enter the enclosed shower.  The bathtub was
replaced; however, it took awhile to find the right bathtub and added an additional $400 to the bill.  Next, the outside wall design of my enclosed shower was not what was originally agreed upon based on the picture that was on Butch Baker's website of the showers he supposedly builds repeatedly.  Originally, we were to have mosaic tile on the
outside; however, we ended up with big tile on the side and mosaic tile on the curve of the wall going into the shower area.  It looked terrible, but I tried my hardest to like it.  Eventually, I came to the conclusion that I would never like it and it all had to be done, but wasn't going to be done by Butch but that I would have to hire another
contractor / tile guy to complete.  By this time, my home renovation project seemed to have a life of its own and had no end in sight. I was stressed, my husband was stressed and it was starting to majorely affectmy kids in their behavior and sleeping patterns.  Everybody just wanted it done.

Chapter 3 -  The Headaches.
In a nutshell, in an 8 hour day he did more talking then he did work. He spoke a good game up front but when it really came down to getting anything done he had a very difficult time of trying to make anything happen. He didn't know exactly what to do when nor what materials went with what. He'd have a lot of open projects and nothing ever seemed to get completed.  We in turn thought this was his plan to show us he was
busy and came to realize a bit later this was the case; he could start the project but he couldn't finish it cause he didn't know what he was doing so it was very challenging to him in that regard.Member Comments: In a nutshell, in an 8 hour day he did more talking then he did work. He spoke a good game up front but when it really came down to getting
anything done he had a very difficult time of trying to make anything happen. He didn't know exactly what to do when nor what materials went with what. He associated himself with Sean Thompson of Professional Home Renovations LLC, Oklahoma City, OK,  for a short period of time and when they parted ways less than a week things went down hill fast.  Sean Thompson, Professional Home Renovations LLC was just as worse as Butch Baker but at least he had a little more knowledge and did less talking, but I wouldn't recommend using either one since they both have gotten bad reviews.   We DON'T recommend using Butch Baker, he's a con man of a handyman for anything in our house or yours.

Butch Baker can't and won't do a good job. He has no skill set, the pictures on his website are fake as he took them while homes were being built and upon completion. He uses a contract "proposal" that doesn't tell you of your privacy, your responsibility as a customer/client nor his, doesn't tell you what to expect from him or he expects from you, no warranty, contract seems extremely basic and he'll tell you a price but then tell you of a coupon that gives you a discount (fake) so then the price drops a few thousand and you think your getting a deal, but instead your getting ripped off for less than what you previously discussed. He tells you that he will buy materials as he goes and you'll pay for i.e. the set of materials he purchases and he'll give you a receipt for the check/cash you give him, but he won't show you the actual store receipt nor let you keep it cause he's trying to win you over by you purchasing someone else's job materials.  I actually caught him doing it to me just once and he said "oh, you don't have to pay for that as its for another
job I'm doing so just subtract it out". He tends to back pedal a lot when he doesn't have an answer so that's why it was good for him to have Sean Thompson there and my husband cause he turned to them quickly to get commentary going instead of sticking to the initial goal of giving me an itemized receipt for what I paid for. He was more interested in
distracting me than taking care of business.   He doesn't have a car so he catches rides with other contractors to get to the job site, he's homeless and has no checking/savings account but uses PayPal as his source of financial backing.

For example, he asks you to put the monies up front so he can buy supplies to start the job and you go through
PayPal and the charge hits your credit card; be careful because PayPal can't provide you a detailed receipt as to what goods your getting but in comments you write supplies, you never see those supplies as he says they get delivered to your house but unfortunately they don't come.  Then you try to get your monies back from PayPal, but it's next to
impossible because PayPal takes his side as the business even though they say in their policy that they hear both sides and try to do the right thing on behalf of the customer (which is you); they don't listen and take the easy way out by saying your comments and examples are not strong enough and you loose your monies; don't trust PayPal.  You hope
and pray that you get those supplies but unfortunately this is the start to paying a lot out of money up front and not seeing very little and next to no supplies or work come of it.  The contract is a proposal but doesn't have his company name, address or phone number on it.

He tends to hang with his brother a lot who also lives in Oklahoma City, OK and they both are now starting to run B&B HandyManService where they are both in it to win big by winning over your pocketbook.   We found out that the monies we paid to Butch Baker for our supposed supplies were to come to our home but instead were being used to purchase coins on Ebay; Sean Thompson of Professional Home Renovations LLC confirms this.  The day after I fired him, I had some things to return to Home Depot and found out that according to Home Depot's Fraud Unit, Butch Baker brings
customers into the store, they supposedly pick out supplies for their job based on what he says and then the customer pays for those supplies and then they are to be delivered/shipped to the customers home however, the customer never receives and then has to go through trying to get their monies back but instead they are supplying him with those
supplies/materials/tools..you are getting ripped off w/o knowing what's happening. STAY CLEAR - Not worth your time, patience or money! He's a  fake and can't be trusted!!

Butch Baker Jr has a new website - Read Carefully!!

AUTHOR: N Lee - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, May 27, 2012
VERY IMPORTANT:  Butch Lee Baker, Jr. has received a lot of negative comments on various websites and a lot of websites
have taken him off because of the trouble he caused my husband and I. Keep in mind, his previous website was
B&BHandymanservice.com and now the same handyman has a new website as his old one is no longer working (and not
a changed person by any means), a-1handymanservice.com. On his new website, he talks of "We aren't about sneaky cover ups we are about true perfection and happy customers." This is simply not the case. The only thing guaranteed by Butch Lee Baker Jr is that he will give you one lame excuse after another why your project cannot be done. It is also guaranteed that he will not tell you that he has a criminal record, which includes burglary, knowingly concealing stolen
property, receiving/possessing/concealing stolen property, misrepresenting age by false documentation, false declaration of ownership, and compounding a crime (to confirm all you need to do is go to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections
website and enter the following inmate number-172330-and surprise there's Butch). It is also guaranteed that Butch will try and get as much money out of you and will never provide you detailed receipts and then blame you for doubting
or questioning him.  It is also guaranteed that Butch will tell you about the award he won and that News Channel 4 supports him, but this is not true (check out In Your Corner on kfor.com-I feel bad for the poor lady who is put on the spot to defend this
guy, clearly she did not know anything about this guy).  Do not trust Butch, and if you see him runthe other direction. He never did any of these projects - no work and no services were ever received.  It's too bad and very sad we can't get our money back.
