I Purchased a 95 Ford Contour form Bill Heard which was financed through UAC. The car was a ripoff.

I feel that this car was very over priced and UAC never checks the blue book value of these vehicles before financing them.

My cars Blue Book value at the time of purchase was $3500 at time of purchase. The vehicle was sold to me at nearly $10,000.
Talking about being "taken for the buck".

My question is, is there a law where these finance companies can not finance vehicles over the amount that there actually worth? How do we as the consumer safe guard ourselves from this scam?

I have called UAC to make this situation known. I have yet to see in action taken.

Is there anyway I can give this car back without hurting my credit? please Help!

After Purchase Service Rip Off

AUTHOR: Val - (Canada)

POSTED: Friday, June 25, 2004

I purchased a (new at the time)2003 Chev 4x4 P/U truck from Smith Chev Olds in Kamloops B.C. At the time of purchase a big deal was raised about bringing my truck there for service. The establishment had an Open House to shoe the new vehicle owners around the re-modelled facility.

I took my truck there for its first service and asked that the seatbelt (passenger side) be checked, fixed, replaced as it is under warranty and it does not work properly (a definate safety hazard). Nothing no response to the request.

I called two days later reponse " nothing is wrong with it" I did not agree so I talked to Customer service they had me bring it in so another person could look at it and yes, the seatbelt does not work properly BUT the service manager has to OK the ordering of any warranty parts and he is the gentleman that said there is nothing wrong with the seatbelt.

After a long hard debate with the organization I guess they have decided not to return my phone calls nor replace my seatbelt. To this date I have a non working seatbelt in my brand new truck.

NOT VERY BRIGHT ARE YOU?

THAT IS STUPID. OF COURSE UAC CHECKS THE VALUE OF THE CAR BEFORE THEY LOAN THE MONEY. THERE IS NO BANK THAT DOES NOT WANT TO KNOW THE VALUE OF WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO LOAN MONEY ON. PERIOD. NOW THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RETAIL AND WHOLESALE, MAYBE YOU DO SOME RESAERCH ON THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO BEFORE YOU WRITE STUFF THAT MAKES YOU SOUND STUPID.

IN ALL THE LETTERS I READ ON THIS SITE I AM SUPPRISED BY HOW MANY PEOPLE SAY, "I FELT LIKE THE CAR WAS OVERPRICED, BUT I BOUGHT IT ANYWAY." WELL WHOSE FAULT IS THAT? YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO COMPLAIN. IT IS YOUR FAULT, NOONE MADE YOU BUY THE CAR, IT IS NOT THE SALESMAN WHO MADE THE DECISION FOR YOU. IF IT WAS PRICED TO HIGH YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT IT. TAKE YOUR MEDICINE AND NEXT TIME BE A LITTLE SMARTER ABOUT IT.

Do some research

AUTHOR: L - ()

Yeah, there is something you can do to prevent this scam from happening. It's called doing some research yourself BEFORE buying an automobile. Why didn't YOU look at the Bluebook value BEFORE purchasing the car. Why didn't YOU research the car on the internet BEFORE buying the car. The finance company has no obligation to you. They just want to make a buck. Since it is their money, they can loan you any amount they want too. It's your fault for paying too much.
