My wife and i currently reside in a FEMA camper in Biloxi, MS an area that was devastated by hurricane Katrina. This company has adds in our local newspapers claiming to be affiliated with the government agency, HUD, U.S. dept of housing and urban developement. So my wife called their number thinking this would be our big break to have a home again.
That was not the case at all. After some quick confussing, discussion she was assured that she could still cancel at any time before 30 days. She recieved papers after two weeks, looked them over, and decided that she was being misled and called to cancel. They did cancel the membership but still charged our account, for three different things, two of which she had not heard of before(24 protect plus and Passport to fun). We were charged over 60 dollars for a membership that doesn't even exist.
They claim to give discounts for everything under the rainbow, but only after filling out surveys and paying more money. These people and their employees are preying on misfortunate people like ourselves everyday.

#1 Consumer Suggestion
Have you followed up with Bargain Network?
AUTHOR: Mike - (Canada)

Shawn,
I trust you've read the other reports on this outfit? Seems to me you'll get your money back either from your credit card company (if you paid that way), or directly from Bargain Network if you insist like I did (See report from Kelwood, Manitoba).
However, each case has its own peculiar merits. Try writing a polite but very firm letter that the amounts taken were done so without your authorization and insist they be returned. I actually had success over the phone despite the rather lengthy wait.
As for claiming to be affiliated with a government agency, what can I say? It's a sad day for the people, if that be true!
Hope you get this resolved to your satisfaction.
