Mr. Steven Watkins was retained by Mr. Alan Marudas of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, regarding my complaint of Civil Rights and Housing Rights violations for Mr. Marudas rental located at 6755 S. Field St. Unit 606, Littleton, CO 80128.

The basis for my comlaints consisted of familial civil rights violations and unlawful increases in rent and finally for unlawful detainer and unlawful eviction (when rent was paid in full).

My complaint with Mr. Steven Watkins regards his professional demeanor during my Civil Rights complaint and now my HUD complaint.  After returning a partial deposit, Mr. Steven Watkins has preferred to litigate the matter rather than settle for $350.  The initial amount I requested was slightly more prior to the refund of the partial deposit.

Mr. Steven Watkins hourly rates exceeds his clients' possible settlement amount of $350, which is no longer on the table.  Mr. Steven Watkins is more interested in litigating to 1) increase his income and 2) to utilize Mr. Marudas' entire retainer.  Meanwhile, Mr. Marudas cannot rent his unit and it has sat vacant, along with his other rental, pursuant to his own Affidavit.

I would not recommend anyone us Mr. Steven Watkins for legal services.  He is not in the business of resolving legal conflicts, big or small, but in the business of collecting his full retainer.  He is unprofessional, rude, insulting and should be investigated by the state for his practices in regards to Pro Se individuals. 

Mr. Steven Watkins has threatened me with criminal complaints after filing my Civil Rights complaint and admitted to advising his client into making criminal complaints.  This is a disgusting practice.  Further more, his client has harrassed me and my family to the extent that we were forced to move on 7 days notice (while rent was paid), in addition to harrassing my young daughter and taking her bicycle, which was outside the unit.

Mr. Marudas never once made any inspections of the rental in three years, despite my complaints of mold, broken window, and dishwasher problems.  Mr. Steven Watkins refused to return multiple emails and continues to do so.  He has expressed that he wishes to litigate over a matter that could have been settled for $350.

Mr. Watkins is a rip off attorney, is out for money, and is viscious and unscrupulous.  Go elsewhere.
