We had a pre-arranged rental for a car in Tulsa, Oklahoma using Budget. On arrival, the sales rep indicated that we would have a better car for approximately $14.00 per day. He said he was giving us this special rate as a courtesy. What he did not inform us of is this rate was $14 a day additional charge and not the final rate.
We had budgeted $264 for the total rental and ended up paying over $600.00 for the rental. The salesman was dishonest and deceptive. It was intential to mislead us into a higher priced rental and not until returning the vehicle did we notice the charge and rate differential.
We will be following up on this matter with the FTC, state of Oklahoma, Better Business Bureau and if necessary legal action as I am an attorney and really ticked off by the deception.

Budget Complaint Department Resolved Issue

SUBMITTED: Monday, July 23, 2012
I talked with the Budget Complaint department and gave them the details of what happended. The representative took down the information, spoke with someone, and removed the charges that were above the previously agreed to rental agreement. While it doesn't negate the original offense by the salesperson, it does show that the corporation takes its business seriously. The deceptions don't appear to be a corporate policy and contacting the parent company is a reasonable step in resolving these problems. Make sure to follow up with the company and, based on my experience, they will try to address the matter. The salesman is still a low-life!
