Dear Fellow Citizens of Ormond Beach,

Hello. I am a homeowner who recently had an addition constructed to create a handicapped accessible bedroom and bathroom for my elderly father that lives with me. Since the construction ended in 2007 it has come to light that the home has many defects in all aspects of the construction including the electrical, plumbing, roofing, siding, air conditioning, cosmetic, ADA requirements, and worst of all it is structurally defective.

These claims can be substantiated with home inspection reports and the ongoing evaluation being done by my structural engineer. I used a licensed contractor and followed all proper procedure and protocol regarding all permits and inspections required by the City of Ormond Beach. Amazingly, my house passed each and every inspection done by multiple building inspectors.

I feel it is my responsibility to warn each and every one of you who reside in Ormond Beach. If you are planning or currently involved in having construction work done to your home be aware that the city inspectors whose job it is to oversee that the work is being done correctly and up to code did not fulfill their obligations to me, and therefore may do the same to you.

Fair warning, your permits and inspections do not protect you or your property. This is an absolute outrage and completely unacceptable. The building inspections are a complete travesty. Please, do not let this happen to you. Thank you for reading.
