On June 21, Conns agent called me to collect the last payment due on my account. I gave her my credit card number and the transaction was successful. In mid-September, I received a letter from Conns asking to contact their collection office so that we could settle my account. Shocked, I called them and to let them know that my account has been paid in full since June 21. They claimed not to have such record from their end and that in order for them to clear me from that debt I will have to provide them with a proof of payment stating so. I went through my June statement, found it and email it to a lady
called Pauline Mendez. After receipt, she immediately called me and told me that they are sorting matter from their end, they are working on locating that payment within their system and in the meanwhile all the negative reporting they have made to my credit will be fixed once everything is resolved. Naive, I believed thinking I am dealing with an honest and ethical company. In the meanwhile I activated my credit alerts and from June to October, Conns had been negatively reporting to my credit even note the account as a bad debt charge off. On October 13, Conns finally decided to update my record or so I thought, Shannon Graer went ahead and sent a manual update to the credit bureau stating that my account was close on October 13 and that the last payment was received on October 13 as well therefore clearly backing their false claims against me. Few days after, I received a credit alert showing that instead of correcting the inaccuracies as promised, conns went ahead and confirmed them instead so now my credit showed that my conns account was over 120 days past due and charged
off as a bad debt when I paid it in full since June. Upset about it, I contacted Ms. Graer from conns who, after consulting with her manager claimed the credit bureau will not allow them to rectify what they already have reported but that the solution would be to delete that account and act as if it never existed. In the meanwhile, I received another credit alert showing that their report of October 13 has dropped my score by 17 points. At that point I realized they were determined to get met one way or another, since I could not extort more money from me, they are making me pay for that damaging my credit. They would smile on my and act that they trying to fix their inefficiencies and turn around and just do the opposite of what has been agreed. After telling them not to delete my account on October 18, they still went ahead and deleted my account on October 23 as claiming that was the only repair they could offer. Conns repply to the BBB about my request: to them not to delete my account is as followed:

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to Ms. M. concerns regarding the credit reporting issue on account 18385xxx.   According to our records, Ms. M. made a payment to payoff the account on June 21, 2012; however, due to a payment processing error the payment did not post to the account until October 13, 2012.   Due to this error, the account charged-off September 30, 2012.  Ms. M. contacted our office for research of the payment and we immediately reversed the charge-off and cleared all marks assessed after we received the June payment.  Ms. M. requested that we reflect the last paid date on the bureaus as June 21, 2012; however, our system does not allow changes to the "effective date" of a payment posting to an account.

As a resolution to this issue, our representative contacted Ms. M. and offered to have the account deleted from reporting to the three major credit-reporting agencies.  Ms. M. agreed to this offer; therefore, our Credit Bureau Administrator submitted a manual correction to all three bureaus to have the account deleted.  The deletion occurred on October 23, 2012, and our agent contacted Ms. M. to advise the deletion had taken place.  Ms. M. stated to the agent that she had changed her mind about the deletion, but the process had already completed prior to contacting her.

A request to reverse a deletion from any credit bureau is not guaranteed.  In the event Ms. M. chooses to proceed with a possible reversal with Experian and Trans Union, she may contact our agent, Andrea Fabacher, by calling 1.800.280.1514 ext 3367.

This is another lie from Conns because my phone records say otherwise.

I spoke with the three different credit bureaus; they stated that all the creditor has to do is correct their entry and it will be updated from their end. However, any company caught making inaccurate credit reporting is usually more scrutinized in future submissions and even fined $1,000 per violation and that is what Conns is trying to avoid at my expense.  It is surprising that conns is now stating that a correction of previous entries is not guaranteed when Pauline Mendez
from conns reassured me that they will remove all the negative points their inaccurate reporting has caused and now I am hearing otherwise. For the very same reasons, I offered Ms. Andrea Fabacher (mentioned above) to have a
resolution talk on a recorded line when she called me on 10/31 and without scruple at all, she immediately declined to have that discussion recorded. For some reasons she thought I would continue talking to them without trying to hold
them accountable for what they say and promise and I that point I understood they are still running games and are not ready to be sincere and I terminated the call.

I know conns is trying to play on consumers ignorance of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) according to which creditors must correct all inaccurate reports on consumer credit history for if they fail to do so, the creditor will be held accountable and fined. Conns does not want to face that fact rather choose to resolve to cover up at the consumers expense.

The matter remains unresolved and I need a very aggressive type lawyer to help go after them and hold them accountable for the damages I have suffered.
