I had no experience in the Trucking Industry, though I was willing to try anything to get a good job.

I am Unemployed and these are tough times.  When the recruiter called me from CR England they told me that there was a Training Program that was free for everyone as long as you agreed to work for CR England.  I applied on Thursday and the Recruiter sent me the information for the Class in Fontana that started Monday.  I was pretty happy!  They said that they would pay for my Training, Pay for my Transportation up to $100.00, Pay for the Motel and I had an opportunity for a new career!

I checked in at the Inn Sunday night and met my roomate who was already a Truck Driver that was going to get a "Dedicated Route" from CR England.

The Inn served a continental breakfast!  The horrible thing is that the van was leaving at 4:15 A.M. to get to the School that started at 6:30 A.M.  We woke up at 3:30 A.M. and arrived at the school at around 4:30 A.M.  There were a lot of people there.  I learned from this experience that Truck Drivers sure know how to say the "F" word a bunch and talk a lot.  Most there already had their license and were more advanced than I was.  It was cold.

Finally, at 6:30 A.M. we all went into the room.  The chairs were terrible!

The Instructor, (I will not mention his name), had the worst attitude of any Instructor that I have ever seen in my life.  These truck driver-type people, (one ex-military for 21 years), I know felt like punching him out.  I think we all did.  I heard him say, "This is the worst class that I have ever had.  Nobody listens at all in this class."  He is not even my main complaint!

The person in Administaration came in and said that the Training was "Free" once you were hired with a 9 month contract with CR England.  The course would cost you nothing.  Just like the recruiter from Salt Lake City!

Then the Instructor that was clearly having a bad day repeated the same thing.  This Training cost nothing after you are hired for 9 months by CR England.

We took a practice test.  I scored 88%.

The problem was when I received my application from the Human Resource person.  There was a contract at the end that stated that I owed the Training School $4,995 immediately upon completion, and that this Contract takes precedence over any other verbal or written previous contract.  I looked around.  Nobody else had this contract in their packet, including my roommate.  The contract went on to say I was liable for the $4,995 even if I did not complete the Training, (if I failed the physical, ex. blood pressure higher than 140/90), or they didn't want me, I would be subject to pay the $4,995.

I went to the Instructor.  He said that it was his understanding that CR England always paid for the Training with an 9 month employment contract, and he would talk to the HR "girl."

In the midst of my physical I mentioned to the HR lady that I had a problem with the Contract in my Application.  The Human Resource person said that she needed that signed before the end of the day.

At the end of the day I went to the Human Resource person and showed them the "Special" contract I had.  The Human Resource person read it.  I explained to her that there is no mention that I would not have to pay the $4,995 with an employment contract from CR England.  She looked at it and I could tell that she agreed.  The Human Resource lady told me that I had to sign this Contract per CR England Corporate.  I told her I was not going to sign it, that the $4,995 was only mentioned today, and that the Contract says that it takes precedence over the free with 9 month employment that my recruiter, school administrator, instructor and even the Human Resorce lady had the understanding was CR England policy.

I left the program and emailed CR England without any answer from them.

Be careful with any contract with CR England!  Watch out!
