Ripoff-Report,

This report has been a long time coming and I think it is my duty to warn other people about this business in Mesa, Arizona called Callahan Automotive.  The owner, Preston Callahan is a smooth talking con-artist.  I brought my K5 Blazer there to have the stereo, alarm, light, and miscellaneous other small items done after I had finished building out the truck.  Preston said yes to anything and everything I asked.  I needed to get the cage powder coated and the outer exterior spray tanned.  He said they can do that too.  I said why not and gave him the job.  The nightmare then began!  How about over 3 months without a vehicle?  Yes, he kept extending and extending the job time.  It was beyond ridiculous.  I have had nothing but problems ever since Callahan Automotive laid their hands on my truck.  I spent 2 years rebuilding it; for them to ruin my electrical system, fail emissions, and just about anything else they touched. I'm just warming up here..

Not only did they take credit for building my truck on their Facebook, which they didn't, but they cost me about 6-8k more, after they finished screwing it up.  I had 3 other certified automotive shops fix all their screw-ups.  The powder coating is peeling all over, the stereo sounds like crap, the speakers are falling apart, and the alarm system goes off whenever it wants to in the middle of the night.  So bad that I have woken up to my truck egged many of mornings.  And you know what?  I cant blame them for egging my truck.  The A/C exploded on me, engine caught fire (luckily I had an extinguisher), and batteries almost blew up twice because they didn't know how to properly wire up a dual charging battery unit!  I have gone thru 4 optima batteries due to wiring.  Optima!  My HD headlight they put in ALL blew out, EVERY electrical item or component they worked on has FAILED.  EVERY ITEM!  I won’t even bring it back to have them look at a tire let alone anything else.  If you want to have this type of work done, bring it to Callahan Automotive!  Don't say I didn't warn you.

To top it all off, Preston Callahan, the one that owns this business if you want to call it that, slapped me with a bill for over $10,419!!  I signed a bill for $3,600.  I thought he was on something for saying here is your bill for $10k.  So what this Preston Callahan does is work on your vehicle, does what he wants, when he wants, doesn't tell you, and then charges you for it.  So he used my truck like an open checkbook, for when they weren't busy and needed something to do out of boredom and to keep screwing me for more money.  I NEVER agreed on 10+K for this non-professional work they performed.  Nothing was signed for, but somehow he certainly thought I owed it to him.  So I paid him out of good faith $8,500 since I could not go on any longer without a vehicle.  And I was shocked I even did that.

He kept ALL my spare parts, doors, lights, seals, approximately $1,200 in parts, never saw a screw back. I brought him BOXES of parts for the truck; those disappeared somehow.  To top it off, he sends me to some fake collection agency called "Action Recovery" to harass me and try to ruin my credit for the fraudulent balance of this bill.  This place event pretends to be attorneys when calling.  They provided me with NO signed receipts or documents of me agreeing to anything extra. ($6,800 additional)If anything I should be sending them a bill for a refund on monies paid and additional monies since I had to get everything fixed by a real professional shop.  They call and harass me like I'm an idiot.  This guy’s girlfriend even called and cursed me out on the phone.  How’s that for a collection agency?  I believe it’s a huge scam and will be doing additional research into this company and to see what they have going.  So they make after the fact bills, with NO validation, no signatures, and attempt to ruin your credit; then try to make you pay for it.

Preston Callahan posted my truck and pictures claiming to have built it on their FaceBook.  BS!  They did none of that.  They pulled the cage and bumpers off to powder coat and spray can it.  So don't be fooled with there Facebook, I actually built my truck and had an excellent mechanic rebuild and fix all of Callahan's Automotive screw ups.  If you don't believe me, take your vehicle to Callahan Automotive.  If you do and you don't like Preston's price (because he charges triple what a dealership charges), he will charge you a "diagnostic fee" and "Storage Fee" without any prior consent to try to make his money that way.

I have done my due diligence in warning everyone. Don't do it. Take your vehicle elsewhere!  You will be glad you did.

Callahan Crooks

AUTHOR: Callahan Motor Sales Victim - ()

POSTED: Monday, February 23, 2015

The reply to the customer is typical of the scripts used by this deceptive dealership. They have been reported to the Office Attorney General, The Better Business Bureau, IC3 for White collar Crime, The channel 4 news. Yelp.com , FaceBook, Keller Chamber of Commerce. The crooks live in Flowermound and have other businesses and alias names. Check out what many others have experienced. They stole a single mother's savings. They tried to pawn a van off that never left the repair garage and many tows from day one. They refused to refund over $2,500.00 that they debited from my account and increased my note for repairs they knew would be there, including asking for more extortion and then they repossessed the so called van from their own garages to sell to an unknowing public. I would have never dreamed of the scams and this one above is just one more explaination true to the sharks that continue to lie. They will eventually be put out of business. I am certain!

Preston Callahan Collections NOTICE!

AUTHOR: Eddie - ()

POSTED: Monday, September 16, 2013

What’s funny about this Preston Callahan is that he talks crap about people not paying their bills and sending them to collections when this dirt bag can’t even pay his own bills. Take a look at this collection notice I attached.  This guy is a typical con-artist scum bag that rips people off and then doesn’t even pay his own bills. You’re on blast punk!

CALLAHAN AUTOMOTIVE ARE CONARTISTS

AUTHOR: NycQueens - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, July 16, 2013

Unfortunately, if anything was left out of my complaint, it was more negative work Callahan Automotive performed; AKA Preston Callahan.  Normally, when you request work to be done by a REAL business you receive a quote. I had never received a quote for any additional monies other then what was originally agreed upon on the bill.  I would have NEVER agreed to pay almost 11,000 dollars for the work or lack of work performed by this unprofessional scam artist of a business.  The “added strength” he speaks about were the minor welding work (tabs for lights) they performed prior to removing my Pre made roll cage to send to powder coat (which has been peeling off since that day).   You can see my roll cage that Callahan takes credit for here under “Mikes K5”. Scroll down: https://www.facebook.com/stonesoupmetalworks/photos_stream

The 150 man hours spoken of were probably the OJT (On the Job Training) that was done on my truck by some 17yr old employee I noticed wiring my truck up; hence why it almost burned to the ground and I had to put it out with a fire extinguisher. Luckily nobody was injured else Callahan would have a little more explaining to do.  I have plenty of pictures with myself building my K5 that Callahan seems to take credit for.  I will post a few on this as well.  They had issues spray painting my truck (which they charged me $90 an hr for), let alone building 85% of it as they claim.

Would you take your vehicle back to a place that ruined so much of it? Then slap you with a bill 4x times the agreed amount?  For safety reasons, I would NEVER bring my vehicle back to this nightmare shop that took 4 MONTHS to finish.  He used my vehicle as an open checkbook to fill the voids and lack of work in his business.  This is why they took 4 months to utterly destroy my truck.

As far as my friends not having issues with the price, this guy has to be on drugs. I asked for basic work from this Callahan Automotive, and not only paid over 8,500 in good faith, FAR FAR more then I agreed on, but spent another $9,000 repairing and rebuilding what they ruined.  This business is owned by a young, con-artist and I highly advise people to take their vehicles to a qualified dealer or repair station.  This guy will fabricate a bill at the end of your work and then send you to a friend who owns a collection business to try to get it from you.   (http://www.actionrecoveryonline.com/)

It is quite a comical comment about how he says everything was approved. We would not be having this conversation had I approved. And the talk of having lots of money is obviously fabricated like the rest of his stories. End of story!

Callahan Automotive will do what customer asks for

AUTHOR: Callahan Automotive - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, July 16, 2013

My name is Preston Callahan,  I am the owner of Callahan Automotive. There is alot of information that was left out of Mr. Moreno's complaint. First of all, when working on a customers vehicle, especially a custom build vehicle that exceeds a basic repair on a particular componet the price on labor will very dramatically.

I recived numorous e-mails and noted from Mr. Moreno on what he wanted to be done on his truck. When we recieved his truck, other work was done by a fabrication company but he wanted us to stengthen and add supports to what already was done before powder coating. There was nothing that was done on the truck without his approval and/or request. We had more than 150 man hours in this project and he was only charged for only 62 hours of the time.

Customer was notified that hours may vary depending on what he wanted done, obviously more custom work and multiple changes to the original plan does cost more. It is impossible to estimate or have a set price on a job where 85 percent of the truck is getting built, painted, repaired, welded and installing tons of wiring for componets and equipment. Mr. Moreno never gave us a chance to repair or redo some issues that arose after the vehicle was done. When this ammount of work and custom componets are installed onto a vehicle there are sometimes some bugs have to be worked out or repaired. There were multiple e-mails to Mr. Moreno asking him to allow us to fix the issues that he had but never allowed us the chance to make it right.

With him still owing us over $3000.00 we did have to send him to collections due to him not settling on an alternate payment or a way to settle the issue. Now it has been almost 2 years since work has been done and we are not at fault of any questionable business practices. Again we did what the customer wanted and allow him to take his vehicle while still owing us money. He talks like he has lots of money and wants everything done to the extreme but when the moment comes to pay for all of these amazing ideas to make his vehicle one of a kind he doesnt have money and its too expensive.

We are still willing to settle with what is owed to us, but we are unable to make anything right without Mr. Moreno's willingnes to talk and to settle on something, or allowing us to fix the bugs. This was not a small little job, this project was complete disassembly of the truck, powder coating and painting and complete assembly with a mile of wires installed. When he came to pick up his truck with two of his friends he had no issues witht he price even his friends we amazed of the final outcome. So if price was an issue Mr. Moreno should of never been ok with everything and say he would bring by payments.
