i just got a call from 303-532-4008 - Colorado Police Protection Association saying the same script provided a few topics up thanking me for the donation "that i did not make" also said that this year unfortunately all donations will not be tax deductible, and asking me if i can make a 45 dollar donation.

JAK productions is absolutely the most shady company i have ever worked for!
We call people basically pretending to be law enforcement to trick them into giving money, we don't say we are police but we

are not allowed to say we are not unless asked. we also commit multiple FCC violations on a daily basis.

A local town used an organization (it did not sound like the original Ripoffreport) to solicit donations from the citizens. It seems even the police department did not realize the company soliciting was going to keep 85% of the proceeds, so the police only got 15%. Everyone except the company was pretty disgusted by the whole thing. If you have a donation to make to the police or fire department, send it to them directly. Years ago I was caught by the same scam.

The county fire department where I live has a fund drive every year and the firemen come to your door. These men and women are volunteers and the fund drive is a way to get new equipment, etc. so I donate. At least I can see who I am donating to.

I checked into this Colorado Police Protective Association on the Web; this organization seems to be a group of lobbyists (warning bells). They have hired JAK Productions, Inc. to solicit the citizens of Colorado. As long as this group is using paid professional telemarketers to solicit, you can bet that JAK is keeping a big portion of your money! And JAK Productions is NOT a non-profit!

I, too, was besieged with calls for the Teddy Bear Fund, the State Police Olympics, the Police Survivors Fund, etc., etc., etc. I was amazed that our Police on all levels were so needy! I felt very noble donating since all sectors of Arkansas law-enforcement seemed to be on their last legs.

Did some research and discovered that LESS THAN 15% of all the money I donated was going to the Police at all! These were professional telemarketers and the bulk of my donations were going to these same people who were harassing me mercilessly all hours of the day and night!

They are PAID (and paid WELL) telemarketers (to the tune of 85% of my donation going to them)! When I let them know that I had discovered what the scam was, I asked to be put on the do-not-call list and I was put on it! These people will call and actually try to make you think that they are law-enforcement officers, donating time on their days off.

I did some checking; I can donate directly to the State Police or to my local Sheriffs Department and those donations ARE tax-deductible! Check with the law-enforcement department that you want to support and ask. Just tell them you want to send money without going through the middle-man. Each state has different laws, but there is usually a way to do that.

Tell these poeple when they call back that you thought that you were donating to the Police, not a bunch of lobbyists!

This is probably an all out scam. I got a call from a similar organization out here in AZ and I asked for them to mail me something before I make any donations and they never evenb mailed it.

Report these guys to your Attorney General. They might not even be legit, aqnd to threaten you with law enforcement is insane. Police do not even get involved in civil matters anyways. tell these to F off and not to call you again.
