Really?

AUTHOR: madison - (United States)

POSTED: Sunday, July 19, 2020

It's hillarious that everyone hates Conns, yet keeps shopping there. The poster complains about phone calls. There is an easy fix for this issue. They will not call you if you keep your account paid in full each month. I have been shopping with Conns for years, 26 to be exact. I have had probably 50 or more accounts with them. I have never gotten a phone call about my bill from them. Why? Because I pay it on the due date.

They send you a coupon book to help you remember what amount is due and when. Easy peazy, lemon squeezy. If your due date in the 5th of every month, then pay on the 5th or the day before. Bam, no calls will be made or recieved for a past due bill. Its not Rocket Science.

Every other company that you deal with that extends credit will start calling you when your bill is past due, yet Conns is bad because they do too. And Im trying to figure out why this is even posted on the rip-off report, when the poster was not ripped off.

As for the person screaming in cap letters about bank information, all calls are recorded there, so if you DIDNT give permission, they can look that call up. Most likely what happened is that they put you on a payment plan and either didnt listen to what they were telling you, or you didnt understand what they were telling you and you were too embarrassed to ask then to explain further. Nothing wrong with that, its human nature.

As for the poster complaining that they call 5 times a day, you just admitted that you were over 30 days past due, and you have the gall to complain? You are the person in the wrong. Conns used its own money to buy these products, then sell you the product. You then do not pay when due, and are upset because Conns wants its return on the investment they made by lending you credit? THAT takes nerves and guts there buddy. Your enjoying a product that you havent even paid for, but get made because they call wanting the payment due. Wow.

In total agreement

AUTHOR: cmickie - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, February 05, 2013

I am in total agreement with this experience with Conn's. I too have a delinquent account with Conn's, and they call me multiple times a day, seven days a week. I am currently at work, and just received not one, not two, but EIGHT calls within a 10 minute period of time from them! The first 6 came from a local number, and the last 2 were from a toll free number. This is complete harassment! Why can't we as consumers do anything about this?

No Customer or Employee Respect

AUTHOR: Doublem - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, January 11, 2009

You can be certain that you, as a customer, will receive no regard from Conn's corporate structure. Whether you slip one day on a credit payment, experience problems with a product or installation, or seek help with service, the corporate management at Conn's will treat you poorly. The problem is not always with store-level sales consultants, most of whom join the company with positive attitudes in the beginning. The problems typically develop when dealing with store and area managers, and at the corporate level, you will usually get no help at all. Below the corporate and management levels, employee retention is the poorest in the industry because honest and well-meaning sales consultants receive about the same disrespect as their customers, and only a few can reconcile with so much dishonesty. As a former employee, my advice to consumers would be to avoid purchasing from Conn's, and to potential employees, work elsewhere.

Calling of Conn's customers

AUTHOR: Loulou - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, October 15, 2007

I worked at Conn's at the Corporate office for 3 months earlier this year. (I couldn't stand to stay there much longer then that.) The corporate office REALLY is where the call center is located. I was in collections (30 day and 60 day) and can explain some of the reasons why you get called so much. The collections division of Conn's is goal based. Every month we had a goal to reach (In 30 day collections it was $210,000.00 (approximately)) and if we didn't reach that goal we were put on some kind of probational period. The bigger your account (Meaning if you bought a $5000 TV verses a $200 Ipod) the more the employees want to bring your account current, because that brings them closer to reaching their goal. The bigger the account, the more reps. are going to want to call you.

Also, they are only allowed (by law) to call 2x per hour, so if you ever get more than two phone calls in an hour they are completely out of line. They tell the collections reps in training that it is our goal, basically, to annoy & coherse our customers into paying their late bills. However, this doesn't mean to not answer the phone. The more you avoid paying your bill, the less leniant they will be if you call in and claim that you are having 'financial difficulties' & need assistance on your account. They are willing to help you SOMEWHAT if you are willing to pay your bill.

Another thing that might be helpful for you to know is that they only have two ways to actually 'help' with financial difficulty. One of these ways is an extension, and I've forgotten the other. But when the reps say 'this is all I can offer you" They really do mean it. They are not trying to antagonize you.
