I am not sure how these people have gotten my number but they call several times a day and hang up on me. They dont leave a message or give any indication of who they are. They even calles me on a Sunday and hung up on me. I try calling the number back and just get a busy signal or it rings endlessly. I am about ready to change my number just because of these people. They wont even give me the chance to tell them to stop calling!! I didnt even know what kind of company it was until i found this site.

More Information on Consumer Preferred

AUTHOR: Dusty - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 30, 2003

You can look up the corporate filing in Florida (complete with addresses) at http://www.sunbiz.org/corpweb/inquiry/corinam.html.

This company used to be Consumer First, LLC but changed their name on 3/26/2003 to Consumer Preferred, LLC.

Thank you for all your hard work on researching this one - I have received several hang-up calls from the 1-800-603-8334 number, one at 10:52 PM!

Thank you and peace also be with you.

AUTHOR: Jacqueline - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, June 27, 2003

Thank you R.J. for your insightful points to consider. I guess I really do need to calm down.

Meanwhile back on the the ranch--I have more information for the original author.

This toll free number submitted in your report: 1-800-603-8331 is turning up in other reports of consumers who are being allegedly stalked and harassed as well.

What ever you do, please DO NOT call that number. Anyone can purchase a toll free number, no lisence or registration required. This toll free number account has special tracking features. This means every time you call that number, information about you is being recorded, logged and monitered. The account holder can than review the number of calls made, the duration, and point of origin. Which means the address for you work place is revealed and possibly your place of residence. Then the account holder can automatically re-route calls back to your place over and over again. It's a little more sophisticated than Caller I.D.

I am more than willing to reveal my source of information, but to law enforcement only for legal reasons.

If I list sample names of those companies, I risk being sued as I cannot determine specifically which one sells to your stalker.

This man is allegedly, indirectly associated with Credit Education Group and Consumer Preferred, LLC. Where ever he comes from at this point doesn't matter, because he's going to have trouble with the law, if he continues.

I don't know if you are still in the same situation, but I would also suggest blocking that number. If he changes 1-800-603-8334, and circles around with another, than he is simply building evidence for your case.

Hope this helps.

Calm down, Jacqueline

AUTHOR: RJ - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, June 26, 2003

Jacqueline,

For your own happiness, perhaps you should calm down and re-examine the crime fighter self-image. Your good intentions seem to have taken on a separate life. Even Spider Man cant stop all crime by himself. And having a stroke while attempting the impossible would not be in your best interest.

We would all like to stop the scams. But in order to offer suggestions, the complaint first must make some sense. Readers are well aware that many reports neither offer enough information nor make much sense.

Having said that, I think the Rip-Off Report is without doubt the most useful anti-crime site on the Internet!

Peace be with you.

More Information Available For Original Author

AUTHOR: Jacqueline - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 25, 2003

I repeat the address provided by the original author of Fort Wayne, Indiana is accurate, and it is the only address available. The jury is still out on the toll free number, possibly, because it belongs to an affiliate of Consumer Preferred, billing department or subcontracted collection agency.

It is an innocent mistake to think the name is Consumer Reports, and anyway the address is our primary link. It is not Consumer Reports, I repeat it is not Consumer Reports.

I just found out this company has a web site called www.cpcard.com. The BBBonline has accurate information confirming, this is a "merchant credit card" used to purchase their products only. The only address they provide confirmed by BBB, and now Google is: Consumer Preferred, PO Box 15386, Tampa, FL, 33684-5386. A "Contact us" link is accesible at their site, and this is the address you recieve. Source: http://www.cpcard.com/config/contactus.asp, page 1 of 1, date: 06-25-2003. Here is their Customer Service Phone Number: 813-879-4752. This "Contact us" link ends with a 2003 copyright for Consumer Preferred or its affiliates.

I'm not done researching that toll free number. If you were going to call them, I wouldn't recommend it. Really it might be safer for you to communicate in writing. I don't know if the continual calls are still occuring, but at this point it might be best to contact law enforcement. Even if you start with your local police.

Hope this helps.
God bless.

You still have nothing to offer.

AUTHOR: Jacqueline - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 25, 2003

You really have nothing to offer, when you waste time fussing over spelling errors. The consumer suggestion I offered is still informative. If you find another spelling error, get over it.

There was no crystal ball required in the research and information offered. Anyone can locate the same information, if they apply themselves. You can do the same thing instead of discouraging others in need.

The original author made an innocent mistake. Maybe she was stressed out with the situation. When people submit reports requesting help, there will be misspellings and maybe the name is close, but not entirely correct. Consumer Reports, Consumer Prefered or Consumer First can be easily confused.

While you worry about some corporate reputation, I am here volunteering to help people who have been or are currently being victimized. It does not make sense to me, that some innocent person gets shot down, just because you don't like the information presented. This is a consumer advocate site. Review the Editor's Policy and and you will find the priority is to help victims/consumers abused or ripped off by corrupt companies.

I have to say your rebuttal was not any where near the waste of time of the other one. You're a loyal customer to a specific company, and that's okay. It's your right.

Irregardless I responded out of concerns for other victims, so that they are not discouraged from looking for help or offering it. No one will want to access this site any more, if they're going to get personal attacks from absolute strangers. Then the primary purpose and objective of Rip-off.com gets shut down. While you have concerns for a company, I have concerns for consumers. We both have the right to our own concerns and priorities.

What I mean by "something to offer" and an exchange of information is a solution to a problem. You still offer no solution. I'm just a volunteer trying to help people instead of hurting them. Insult me all you want. All that I care about is the original author recieving the information submitted in my report. Your objectives are your business.

Jacquelines REAL Company?

AUTHOR: RJ - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 24, 2003

I fail to see how my comments qualified as being WORTHLESS and a WASTE. The person who wrote had inadvertently and foolishly maligned a very reputable company. What I wrote was indeed an exchange of information in order to clarify that the company name given was very unlikely to be correct.

You must have a crystal ball if you somehow know that the real name of the company supposedly calling is Consumer First, LLC. The writer obviously didnt have that information.

As to your, I don't understand why the staff posts non-applicable GARBAGE., you need to take a closer look at what you wrote. And, please, use spell check next time. Im sure that there will, unfortunately, be a next time!

#6 Consumer Suggestion

They could be calling you constantly, because they think you owe them money. Bill collectors do this all the time.

AUTHOR: Jacqueline - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 24, 2003

THIS IS A REAL COMPANY!!!!! Please ignore the WORTHLESS comments, in the previous rebuttals. They do not know what they are talking about, and have missed the primary purpose of this site. We are here to exchange information, while they are here to needlessly harass and berate, consumers looking for help. It is true we can have our own opinions even when they're STUPID, but there is nothing you can accomplish by publically harassing someone you don't even know. FURTHUR MORE, who has done NOTHING to you. The prior comments are a WASTE. I don't understand why the staff posts non-applicable GARBAGE. We are at Rip-off.com NOT harass-people-for-fun or I-am-immature-and-have-nothing-better-to-do.com

NOW, the correct name of the company submitted by the original author is: Consumer Preferred, LLC., The Principal: Ms. Billie Pardee, and Manager. Business start date: September 2002. The business classification is: credit merchants card. This means they give you a specialized credit card, which can only be used to purchase their products, through a mail order catalog. Obviously at www.clearwater.bbb.org, they have an unsatisfactory report. Anyway for that PROOF: Their address matches 100%, at the top of the BBB report. Access artice: http://www.clearwater.bbb.org/common.html?location=/home/common/www/, page 1 of 2, 6-24-03. Here's another phone number which might help: 813-879-4752.

They could be calling you constantly, because they think you owe them money. Bill collectors do this all the time. It may be against the law for them to harasse you, but they can bug the living s**t out of you for a past due payment. I am not in anyway implying you are delinquent customer, but that they have the wrong person. In addition, this could be more serious than you realize. I don't want to make you paranoid, however it could be a case of stolen identity. This type of crime is rampid right now.

You have a valid Rip-off Report, and I pray you recieve this information. If you didn't want to return, because of the previous responces, I wouldn't blame you. I just hope the staff can find some way to reach you.

Please get back to us to let us know you recieved this, because you're in a potentially dangerous situation. There are people right now, being sued for back pay of $50,000 and up, from purchasing transactions never made.

The also go by the name: Consumer First, LLC. Here are some more numbers to try: 813-877-7984, 813-837-6097, 813-837-9951.

I really hope this helps.

What Kind Of Company Is It?

AUTHOR: RJ - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, June 23, 2003

"They dont leave a message or give any indication of who they are."

"I didnt even know what kind of company it was until i found this site."

Then how do you know who is calling? How would you come to the conclusion that it was a company called Consumer Report? What kind of company is it?

The only company that I know of with a similar name is Consumer Reports Magazine published by the Consumers Union. It has had an excellent reputation for decades. As far as I know, this company does not employ telemarketers to solicit by phone. I've subscribed to the mazagine for at least 25 years.

Oh Great Goggly Moggly!

AUTHOR: Shawangunk - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, June 23, 2003

Since when does calling someone repeatedly constitute a rip-off? You were not ripped off! If you are having trouble with unwanted phone calls, contact your local telephone company - not this site!

By the way, your post does not make any sense. You say they "call several times a day and hang up" on you. You also say that they never leave a message or "give any indication of who they are." How do you know who they are then? And why/how would you expect them to they leave a message if they always "hang up" the second you pick up the phone? Um, I don't think your answering machine would pick up after you answer the phone, now would it?
