Continental Finance is a Company that claims to help rebuild your credit score.   I had to pay a $75 fee which was no problem.  I however had no idea that they hold payments for 7 to 10 days before clearing.  I went to make a purchase and my card was declined.  You have to make payments to them via your checking account or through Western Union which cost $10.  I opted to pay through my checking as to not incur any more fees.  I called and explained to the Customer service rep that I had made my $75 payment and it should be on my card.  The rep told me that my payment will take 7 to 10 days to clear.  I asked why would my check take 7 to 10 days to clear when my check is the same as using a debit card which is an immediate payment?  The rep said that's just the way it is.  I informed her that we live in an electronic delivery age now and that checks clear right away.  She kept telling me the same thing over and over again and then she optd to call my credit union and have a phone conference to get them to verify the payment went through.  I once again told her that my check is immediate payment and that if my payment didn't go through, the check would be declined just like a debit card.  I gave up and said, ok then I'll just wait for the $75 to clear.   I then received my Matrix bill the following month and I once again used a check rather than the western union payment saving me the $10 because I was now fully aware of they're payment methods.  I paid my balnce in full because I am tryng to rebuild my credit.  They give you a $300 limit, my payment was $293.  I called and asked when my payment would clear so I could use my card without being declined, I was told Saturday after midnite, which was 7days after my check payment to them.  I went online on Saturday and checked to see my available balance is $7.  I called and then was told my available balance would be on Monday so I thought to myself, ok fine.  Checked my available balance, still $7.  I called again and was told because of the holiday that my balance would be available on tuesday.  I was dumb founded at this point and said to the rep, why does the holiday matter if my payment was already made?  The Rep had no clue about the point I was making regarding electronic delivery.  Something is fishy with this company.  They are intentionally holding my payment as long as they can and I'm sure it's all legal and they know how to get around the system.  I'm cancelling the card, because I have some serious concerns with this company.  BEWARE fellow consumers!
