Well here we are again, I contacted Counts cove kennels again to send
proof of my dogs spay so i could receive my dogs papers. She said I
could just scan the confirmation and e-mail it to her instead of
sending it through the mail. So i waited a few days and no reply. I
finally called and they claimed that they didn't know who they were
talking to when they said i could just email it, which shows they
cannot keep track of their puppies and who they sell them to. So now
they say that because it is me that was asking and they had "problems"
with me i must send proof in writing instead, they will NOT accept an
email version from me, is that right? no but that's not the point. I
explained to her that i was very upset my poor puppy had diarrhea from
the moment she arrived to me. She had it for almost 5 months and had to
be taken to the vets over 3 times just for her diarrhea. The poor puppy
had it squirting out her butt. I crate train my dogs so at night she
slept in a crate and she would howl constantly. At first we thought it
was because she was a puppy but in the morning there would be poop
squirted all over the place out the cage and in the cage even on the
walls sometimes, so at night she had to be put in the middle of the
room away from everything. That is not normal and not acceptable. The
vet said she had Giardia. The fecal test confirmed it. When i told
counts cove kennels this they simply claim that that isnt sick thats
just a parasite. Well i dont think my puppy felt very good when all she
did was poop out liquid. The vet said that the "sickness" was so far
along that she had to have had it at the breeders house.  She was
malnourished because of it. I feed Blue Buffalo large breed puppy food
to her to try to make up for how sick she was and help her grow. Also I
let the breeder know that my puppy arrived with a urinary track
infection. She claimed that wasn't her fault either. I spent almost $50
just on a stool hardener and regulator so my dog could grow and
actually get the nutrients from the food instead of it coming right out
because she was so sick. I also spent a good amount of money on vet
bills and medicine, and i don't mind because i only want the best for
my dog, however the breeder should take responsibility for her sick
puppies and compensate or help when the owners need it, instead all she
does is deny, deny, deny and she does not stand behind her customers or
her dogs. And she claims that she said she would give me a new puppy
instead, and that's not what matters i love my dog shes trained and
shes a great girl because she had a great home to grow up in with ME.
Why would i want to send her back to the place she came form? She
should have offered to help instead of just trading puppies. And when
she didn't like what she was hearing she once again hung up on me. That
is very UNPROFESSIONAL and RUDE. DO NOT BUY FROM COUNTS COVE KENNELS.
They have over 10 litters of huskies right now and that's a PUPPY MILL,
they send sick dogs out and don't back them up and they disrespect
their buyers. I am STILL waiting on my dogs papers and have not
received them.

Author of complaint wrong about Giardia

AUTHOR: TheOpinionatedGSD - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, August 13, 2013

The author of the complaint states that Giardia comes only from stagnate water. That is not true. Giardia is a worldwide germ. It’s the #1 most reported Parasite by the CDC. Even the CDC says unless children are symptomatic then they do not need to be treated for Giardia. Many puppies are not symptomatic of germs until they go through a stressful situation- if they do have a parasite like Giardia hiding in their gut lining when they are stressed it can bloom and cause the systematic infection. Adult dogs that have had giardia, and people also that have had it, become immune to it.. Only to be ever affected if they themselves have an immune related issue. There is a vaccine for Giardia; however it has not been very effective.

http://www.cdc.gov/parasites/giardia/gen_info/faqs.html

http://www.idexx.com/pubwebresources/pdf/en_us/smallanimal/snap/giardia/giardia-in-dogs-and-cats-quickcourse.pdf

http://www.vetmed.wisc.edu/pbs/zoonoses/gik9fel/giardia.html The treatment for Giardia is clear, cheap and only takes 3-5 days with the use of Fenbendazole.

http://www.capcvet.org/capc-recommendations/giardia << A little bit of googling could have saved you and this dog, and the breeder some heartach.

Some things that bother me about your complaint is that your complaining about buying a 'stool hardener' for $50.. yet not mentioning what it is.. Nor did you say how long it was between getting your new dog and having it seen by a Vet.. you only say that after 2 weeks you realized that the diarrhea was not only stress related and then you took her to be seen.. to me that's neglectful.

You also said you started the dog on Blue buffalo food, which can be very rich. Some dogs just can't eat 'puppy' food with added fats and proteins. This is possibly why you were having such issues stopping the diarrhea in the first place. Also.. It only takes 5 days to clear up Giardia with effective treatment, that should cost no more than $20, if your Vet charged you more and it took several months to clean up- that's on YOU. Your sanitation, Your ability to give medication properly, and your choice to stick with an incompetent Vet are all choices you made.

It's no wonder they choose to stop talking to you. Very uninformed. You’re a breeder too right ? ( no wonder she wanted HARD proof of a spay) You mention below you were just an infant when you were first in the 'dog world' ... Maybe it was you posting your nonsense on Facebook today.. I thought I would check here as it was mentioned there was a complaint about this kennel from another kennel... very simular story and ignorance.

Mean and unreasonable people

AUTHOR: Mike - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, March 26, 2013

Hello, I have read this so called report on Counts Cove. I have bought a puppy from them myself and have had a lenghty history with Counts Cove and Alice Counts the owner. First off my dog is the best puppy in the world. Smart, happy, and most of all loving and very healthy.

My puppy had diarrhea when he landed in my city. I called Alice up and she gave me some good information, and I also took the little guy to the Vet. The Vet gave me some medication, that cost me $14, and made my puppy's stool into normal puppy poop. You have to remember the little dog is changing his diet, his enviornment, his family, his whole world changed, and I know he was a little nervous, and I expected him to have some minor issues like runney poop. To not expect this is very unreasonable on the person that bought the puppy.

I got my dog fixed and faxed a copy of the paperwork to Alice and she promptly sent me my paperwork for the AKC stuff. So have 100's of other people. This person making this claim probably sent in a paper that was bogus or looked made up, because no one has ever said Alice was reluctent to hand over the AKC paperwork for any dog. Now I have attended 2 of the Counts Cove Husky round-ups. And have seen and talked to yes 100's of other dog buyers who had nothing but wonderful things to say about Alice, Counts Cove, and most of all her wondeful puppies.

This person who is trying to get Alice to pay for the Vet bills is not being honest about the vet bills and the reason for the vet bills. Like I already said, the little puppy is changing his entire world, and of course it will be a little sick. And to hold a breeder accountable for that is unreasonable. I have been to Counts Cove and seen the living space of the Huskies she breeds. They are not penned up, and have lots of open space to run and play. This guy or gal says Alice is a puppy mill? They have no idea what a puppy mill is, hundreds of dogs in small cages, walking in their poop and food and water. Never let out of the cage except for when they are bought. Horrible heat and cold conditions, just a sick, sick place of puppy suffering. This is NOT Counts Cove, go there and look for yourself. She really cares about all of her dogs, and helps all of her customers.

The writter of the original Report, is trying to put a very nice and respected Husky Breeder out of business by slandering her name and business. They are just mean people who will say and do anything to avoid paying something like I did, $14 for some stool hardener. THERE IS NO WAY ALICE WOULD SEND A PUPPY THAT WAS AS SICK AS THIS PERSON SAYS THE PUPPY WAS.  This person should not have a puppy because all they care about is getting their way and will say and do anything to get it.

My dog is happy, healthy and 10 times smarter that the author of the original report. In fact, he is yowling at me right now to go to bed, it's late daddy and we should be in bed! ya he does that, awesome dog.

PLease if you have taken the time to read all of this, sound off yourself and help Alice put this person and other people like this in their place. They are full of hate and spite, and really do not deserve the loving natured huskies Alice sells.

SCAM ARTIST and PUPPY MILL

AUTHOR: texasgal - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, March 07, 2013

Alice Counts is a SCAM ARTIST and PUPPY MILL! We bought a dog from her, picked him up and ended up returning him because he was a very poorly socialized animal. He was already developing separation anxiety and we had only had him for a few days! He was mean to our 2 yr old female collie, who is the sweetest dog you'll ever meet so there was no reason for him to be mean. He did not work out in our family so we returned him.

We are the people that I guess she is telling people "dumped" him in her lap and she so graciously offered a full refund. Well guess what, that's SO not true! We had him for a week and in that week's time, we were all very stressed and at each others throats. Our collie was disconnecting from all of us because the pup wouldn't let her be near us and was bullying her for no reason! We made the decision to return him because it was the best option for both the puppy and for us. We called her and when we said we needed to bring him back, she was VERY rude and sounded very "put-out". We took him back and when we got there, she grabbed him out of our hands and told us to leave. We said we weren't leaving without the refund and she said she wasn't going to give that to us. She then tried giving us the puppy back because she didn't want to give us the money! Needless to say, we are now in a legal battle with her because she STILL has not given us OUR money and this happened in July 2012!

That's good that she has applications NOW. But for 20 years, she didn't. She just started the application thing after the fiasco with us. This shows she DOESN'T CARE who the puppies go to!

I have been keeping track of her website for a year now and paying attention to the sires and dams she is breeding. Guess what... there are several females that have had at least 2 litters since July! This is unhealthy and cruel! Females are not supposed to have that many litters! A breeder is supposed to wait at least one heat cycle before breeding that female again and each heat cycle happens every 6 months. That's 2 litters MAX per year. One poor female has had 4 litters since April 2012 and 2 of those litters are 2 months apart, which is the amount of time it take for them to carry to term.

So say what you want about how "great" she is, put the proof is in the pudding. She has TERRIBLE business practices and treats her customers horribly if they disagree with one little thing she says. She's a SCAM ARTIST and PUPPY MILL and doesn't care about her dogs!

I have a CCK dog..

AUTHOR: RTMH - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 14, 2012

The original poster strikes me as an uneducated tool. Your report is hard to follow, and full of grammatical errors. Thanks. Anyway, moving on.

I have a one year old husky from Counts Cove Kennels. I bought him directly from Alice Counts.

First of all, my husband and I did go through a screening and application process for our puppy because someone had previously bought a puppy and after three days dumped it back at Alice's claiming they weren't cut out for the amount of energy a husky puppy requires. Alice takes back puppies gladly, offering a full refund. After posting this little guy's plight on her Facebook group, he found a home with a family that already owned one of her huskies and is thriving.

My husky had accidentally ingested a substance before we got him - as puppies tend to do. Alice counseled us on how to take care of him and offered to reimburse us any vet bills due to the ingestion. When we got him, he was perfectly healthy! Happy, well adjusted dog. I have had zero problems with him in the last year that weren't off his own making, like eating a rotting dead bird.. Sigh.

When I mentioned to someone that a lady had punched my dog in the face at the dog park, Alice was on the phone calling me within an hour to see how he was holding up. In fact, no issue has been too big or too small for her to immediately address with me and my dog.

I would greatly recommend Alice as a breeder. We even keep in touch with my boy's brother from her CCK litter! And that woman owns two, bought nearly a year apart, both healthy and beautiful.

I agree with EVERYTHING this person worte against counts cove kennels!!

AUTHOR: mini29 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, April 16, 2012

Alice at Counts Cove Kennels is EXTREMELY rude to her customers and she does send SICK puppies. The puppy I got from them was sick beyond belief with gerardia. My poor puppy was hitting walls all the way across the room with her loose stools. My vet said she had been sick for quite some time before I received her. I had to go through AKC just to get my puppies registration papers after I had her spayed like we agreed upon in the contract. She kept refusing to send me my papers even after I sent her proof of spay. This lady has WAY TOO MANY DOGS AND PUPPIES. Just because someone sells a large amount of puppies and dogs DOES NOT mean they do it right. Counts cove is a text book example of a puppy mill. I had nothing but problems with this breeder and my dog.

I know what iam talking about

AUTHOR: mini29 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, May 28, 2011

Listen I have been in the dog world since I was born. It was not just about the papers, Alice was constantly rude and unreasonable, I would not go out of my way to hurt someones business, however she does not deserve to get a good review, Im happy to hear she was atleast nice to a few people, however how do I know you are not her trying to save her name or a close friend doing the same? I did send the papers and proof of spay to her and she still denied me registration papers I had to go through AKC to obtain my paper work, that is just absolutely ridiculous as a breeder she should have been more than willing to help and must nicer than she was, I was hung up on several times, actually almost everytime i called i was hung up on, talk about immature and unprofessional also yes it is not always the breeders fault that the dog is sick but when they come with giardia that is caused by stagnant and unclean contaminated water!

Ask any vet your dog or puppy cannot get that disease if they had clean fresh water, so dont try telling me it wasnt the breeders fault giardia lires fully on the breeder having dirty and stagnant water for her dogs. My vet also stated that my puppy must have had the disease for quite some time because of how bad it was, my poor puppies diarrhea was so bad it was squirting put and hitting walls the were over two feet away, your going to tell me thats normal? no it was not stress from flying because even after she settled in she did not have one solid stool!

The service and the quality of puppy i received was absolutely horrible you can write what ever you want on here, because of my experience with alice i tell people to steer clear of her kennel and when someone asks about my husky i tell them the whole story and they cannot believe it.

Also my husky did not reach the size a husky is supposed to, i think her being sick for the whole first months of her life stunted her growth, unacceptable. say what you will think what you want i am obviously not the only one that had bad experience with counts cove and alice, she did this to herself by the way she treated not just me, but her dogs.

Wonderful Puppies

AUTHOR: Mike - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, February 03, 2011

I purchased a puppy from counts-cove and had the most wonderful time. She stayed intouch with me the entire time and I recieved a perfect Husky puppy we named Fenrir.

To say Alice is anything but a great person is crazy, she holds 2 Husky round ups each year and invites all of her customers to bring the dogs down and have a fun day, a few 100 huskies running around is a sight to see too.

Who ever wrote this horribly false review of counts-cove is just a bitter person who most likely wanted very unreasonable things from Alice. She has provided us with great support and to this day is in love with every puppy she sells.

I challange anyone to find husky puppy with a better temperment than my Fenrir. he is perfect in all respects, a true represenative of the Husky Breed.

Her kennels are spotless and all of her dogs as happy and well cared for as they can be.

If you do not get a husky from counts-cove, you are missing out on a wonderful line of husky or shepard.

We love Counts Cove Kennels

AUTHOR: dvr Victorville - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, January 24, 2011

We have purchased two beautiful husky pups from Alice. She has always been available to help if we have a question or concern. One of our pups also had diarrhea when we first brought him home. Alice was very quick to provide the medication we needed free of charge to bring our pup back to health.

We have stopped in to see Alice and her dogs on several occasions and the pens are always clean. We have watched Alice and her mom bathe the pups and cuddle and love them. We have also attended one of Alice's "roundups" and there were over 70 happy dogs and their families there.

I'm sorry that you had a bad experience, but I think this was something rare. We LOVE Counts Cove Kennels. I always recommend them when people ask where we bought our beautiful dogs. I would buy another dog there and probably will.

Counts Cove Kennels...the BEST

AUTHOR: cathie - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 18, 2011

For as many years as Counts Cove Kennels have been in business and for the years I have known the owners accusations of not following through with problems and saying even the slightest possibility of being a 'puppy mill' is completely irresponsible. If anyone has any questions or concerns they should go into Counts Cove Kennels website and look at how many 'satisfied' and 'happy' customers they have, including myself. Better yet you need to go to the Kennels and meet the owners and see their dogs. There are also a list of contacts to write and ask about their experiences. Many of my friends have also gotten dogs from them and know how much pride, time, & love they put into them. Alice is always available to talk to you about your dogs from puppy to adult from their ears to their bones. Quality and trust is Counts Cove Kennels. As one testamonial says:Alice is a wonderful person, and when you meet her you will only then fully understand her love for animals.

Please go to CountsCoveKennels.com and go to the kennels to see for yourself.and do not believe in false reports

RIDICULOUS

AUTHOR: cb2000 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, January 16, 2011

Sounds like you have a dispute about the papers. Why don't you just send your request in writting like the kennel is asking you to do? As far as your puppy being sick - everytime the dog is sick then it is the breeders fault? That doesn't sound logical.

I have to german shephard dogs that I purchased in 2004 and have NEVER had a problem. Matter of fact they are iin PERFECT health...everytime I was worried about something or had questions, the owner, Alice was very patient, understanding and thourough with information. She has always taken care of me and my dogs!

Wouldn't ever go anywhere else to purchase another puppy if we ever get another one.

If you are looking into purchasing a puppy from Counts Cove Kennels, I would recommend that you do your homework...there are FAR MORE happy customers than the FEW dissatisfied customers that you will find on the internet. I would go to their website and read the client testimonials. You can even contact previous customers directlyand ask them questions about their experiences.
