Came upon this place by accident. I was actually looking at a Mazda 3 at a dealership next door and saw a Mazda 6 across the street. While I was looking at the car, I was approached by Aftab Punjwani, the owner of his Dealership Daps Stop N Shop (Listed on State of Texas Secretary of State as Star Touch Inc). The car was clean, had a few issues, which he promised he would handle. We took the car for a spin and noticed a ticking or slight knock at low rpm. So we take it back and address this with Aftab, he tells us that there are rocks in the splash guard and that it will be handled. I tell him we are interested but that I want a warranty. He tells us that he will stand by the car and will throw in a 90 day 3500 mile warranty for the powertrain. Sounds like a good deal to us, so we leave a deposit.

About 5 days later we pick up the car, Aftab isn't even there to close the deal we deal with the Manager Sean. He gives us our paper work including paperwork for a warranty company known as GWC. On the way home, I stop and get gas and notice a huge odor of burning oil. Ut oh.... I get home and email the guys at Daps and they tell me to bring the car in for service. At this point, I am a little apprehensive about this so I go and get a second opinion. I am told that there are leaking gaskets, including the oilpan gasket, head gasket, and that the car has failed a compression test. Also I am told that the ticking and knocking at low RPM is an indictator of engine damage. I take this report and keep it in the back of my mind and decide to give the boys at Daps Stop N Shop an attempt to fix it.

We get the shop on Saturday afternoon. My father and brother are with me and while we are waiting we see the mechanic using spray on gasket on the car. After about an hour, we are asked if we can leave the car over the weekend so they can get tot the bottom of the issue. When I go out to get my things from the car. I notice that the mechanic who has my car on teh lift has the car's sideskirts are being pushed up by the supports on the lift. He didn't use the proper spacers when placing the life so the supports were pushing up on the plastic.

Enraged I tell the mechanic my problem and he doesn't speak english, my luck. I am given a loaner car and here is where things start to get crazy. Sean tells me if I get pulled over to tell the police that I am just on a test drive, this boggles my mind but whatever. I really just wanted to get home. The loaner has no gas, and a warning light for the oil comes on on the way to the gas station. After putting gas in the car, I check the oil and find there is NO oil in the vehicle. We hurry up and bring the car back to Daps and I get my Mazda back.

Finally I get on the phone with GWC the warranty company they use and the car is being looked at by City Garage. They recommend a new motor, and the warranty companies adjuster agrees. A $5800 repair. However, because it was clear to the adjuster that the repair was recently attempted and failed, the warranty company denied the claim. Clearly also the crook owner Aftab has said this is the warranties companies fault, and that I have expected to much out of a used car. We are now fronting the bill for the repair and having to sue this crooked dealership. Do not buy from these guys, they will rip you off.

I ended up having to pay a total of $4030 to replace the engine. I made a huge mistake trusting these guys. You think when someone warranties a car, why get it inspected? Even if I don't get my money back, I will take comfort knowing I may have prevented someone from getting into the same trainwreck as I did...
