Jim Smith and his wife Vickie are the owners of the Little Rock franchise.

They are the worst type of business owners ... interested ONLY in making themselves rich at your expense but appearing to be nice, greying seniors. When you are 'sold' ... about a $1000.00 goes to the sales person, about a $1000.00 to the home office and the rest goes to them ... on top of all the rest of fees, costs and expenses they can charge you for.

This company changes its name frequently because of a poor consumer record. It was formerly known as UCCTotalHome when they opened their doors.

There are many online reports on both companies regarding their poor consumer record. Look up "direct buy scam" on any search engine.

Since you are reading this you probably don't know much about how a company like this does business.

A company with a dubious product or service for sale (like this one) will attempt to use coercive persuasion to make you buy. This may be a 'fear of loss' technique (you will not be able to tour the showroom and check prices again for 7 years if you don't sign-up today) or 'power close' techniques to 'intimidate' you into buying. Remember, they have nothing to lose ... they will not see you again if you don't buy 'today' ... so they are liable to try anything that might 'close the sale' with your personality type.

Time share is sold this way and some health club memberships because so many people drop out and don't use their memberships. They are really just selling 'time' to use their facility ... they have virtually no additional expenses whether you join or not.

Their satisfied customer comment here is obviously from them since they didn't open until around 2001. It amazes me how they can keep finding new people to "RipOff".

The contract, which no attorney would ever let you sign, is so one sided that it is patently fraudulent, in my opinion. But since you cannot take it home to review it ... most people who do join based on hype and inaccurate claims, find themselves holding a document that gives them virtually nothing for their money ... and no legal recourse.

They are selling the equivalent of a SAMS CLUB membership for thousands!

Personally, I can find better deals than SAMS normally on the internet (that deliver to my home, not a warehouse) so DirectBuy selling for thousands is a total RipOff! (they have many charges and expenses associated with just receiving the goods you order at their warehouse)

You are paying for a 'buying club' that gives almost no service, has prices that can be beat by almost any discount retailer. They hide behind a clever contract that gives you no rights to contest anything.

AVOID! If it were a good, decent company they would be happy to let you try it for a month for free and then pay monthly.

But if they did that no one would pay their price.

Royal RipOff!

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

They Speak the Truth!!!

AUTHOR: Nthegym247 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, December 21, 2008

As a Former Marketing Director of DirectBuy of Northwest Arkansas and working for Diana Tyler (daughter of Jim and Vicky Smith) and Vicky Smith, I can tell you that everything this person is saying is completely TRUE!! If you want to hear how underhanded their tactics are, I'll give you what happened to me as well as an ex employee. I was working for the company, and when I was hired, I informed them that I had two other companies that my wife and I owned and were currently working on and in pursuit of building up.

I was fired for being 7 minutes late to a meeting that I was only given about 12 hours notice of. We normally had to be in on Saturdays around 9:30, and the meeting was at 9am. I was told of the meeting around 8pm on Friday Night. Lovely Right? I have a young daughter, my wife and I own a salon, and I have two other companies, a National Radio Show, and a Pro MMA League I'm working on. So just holding down that job with the odd 1-9pm+ hours is insane. I showed up at 9:07am, sold 3 memberships that day, and two on Friday, made them $25,000.00 and was told that because of my tardies and absences (Every day I took off was approved, including our event we held which I told them about when hired), and they knew about the other businesses and that I would be running behind from time to time, etc. I countered them on that, and then was told "When we were in San Francisco, we decided that we were going to take the company in a different direction, and since you can't be 110% committed to DirectBuy, we're going to let you pursue your dreams".

Please note, I was never written up, nor did I ever have to sign any documentation for violating any company policy. They fought my UnEmployment, and WON!! I'm now in the Appeals process, and according to everything I've read, they don't have any ground to stand on, because what I did wasn't Intentional.. Just ridiculous.. This is possibly the worst company I've ever worked for. I've been a Store Manager for Kohl's, Borders, and a District Manager with GNC, Spencers, and have had some high profile jobs, but this takes the cake. I have NEVER been fired in my life, so this is just a complete slap in the face.

Oh, and on the Commission Scale... I wish it was that good, but its' not. We only get $100 per close.. The club gets about $3200, and the rest goes to the Corporate Office. How Sad.. One more thing.. I was the #1 Closer at the NW Arkansas Location from March to November.. I made them around $60,000.00 per month for 8 months.. What a complete worthless turd I was huh? So it wasn't performance based. I had been the Top Closer since I started in mid March..

Any Thoughts would be appreciated, but I highly recommend anyone that is thinking about working for this group, or joining to STAY AWAY!!

A Concerned Citizen of Northwest Arkansas.

too bad Jim Smith and his wife Vickie home address and phone numbers are not posted here, after all, if you go to their presentation, they have all of your info.

turn about is fair play, right.

crooks should be exposed to the public at every chance, I am sure it would make anyone thinking of pulling a scam to consider the conquences. ( like being noticed and pointed out when they go shopping at the mall or local market)
