I was told my equipment needed to be upgraded. Dish Network sent a tech to replace equipment.Tech removed old dish from roof and re[laced new one in a different spot. Left a hole and now my roof is leaking inside the house.

I filed a complaint with dish network. I was told they are not liable as they do not have any liability with sub contractors. I did not hire a sub contractor I hired dish network. Dish network farmed the job out to someone else.I hired Dish network.

Dish network knows nothing about who gets the job nor the employee of subcontractor. Dish network is not responsible for whoever they send out. Could be a thief, murderer, rapist they send to your home and dish network says they are not responsible for who comes or what they will do as dish network is not liable. They will never disclose that to you when you place an order, nor will the sub contractor tell yoou they are not employed by dish network.

BEWARE, ask for a direct employee or go to another company. Your home will be damaged or worse. Dish network is not liable and wants nothing to do with it.

They will take yoour money and owe you nothing. Not even a disclosure stating they are not liable and the subcontractor is not liable. BEWARE

dish network sub contractors

AUTHOR: eric - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, January 29, 2011

I am a dish network sub contractor and there is always liability. all sub contractors for dish must carry 1,000,000.00 in liability insurance and workers comp insurance. The company has strict guidelines for all contracting positions.

Sorry for your bad experience with this tech, however; not all subs fit this description. I'm sure they are liable for all damages to property. Pursue the tech and the company he works for.

Good Luck,

Eric

I appreciate your feedback and insight.

Please understand I did not call dish network they contacted me. Informed my equipment was old and needed to be upgraded. It was working fine, they explained there was no charge as I own my equipment and they would be moving things around and they were positive I would be with out service after they upgraded their system.

I should not have agreed and kept my equipment as it was and waited to see what happened.

I am not on any contract and will not be on one for any service for anything. No company will hold me hostage. I will move on as fast as I came if I am not happy.

I have never had a problem in the past but it is clear this is becoming a major nightmare.

I will be filing a complaint this week with the FCC,FTC, Attorney General in my state and the state they operate from and the BBB, also have gotten legal advise and will be commencing legal action on Monday naming Dish network and the independent contractor they subbed it to. A cert. of Insurance has to be on file with all subs.

No where on any paperwork in my possession does it say they are not liable, nor does it state work is performed by an independent contractor. It is misrepresentation and will be dealt with accordingly.

I have been offered 10.00 a month for 10 months as a gesture of good will.

Dish network can take their good will and put it where it fits. I am not interested.

They need to be accountable for who they send out and need to disclose such on every call.

As an independent dealer for Dish Network. I can not control what Dish Network does. But i can control whatI do.

I try to get all the infoI can to help the customer make a decision. Some customers like what I do and some don't.

No matter what the customer cant remember everything I tell them .I also put it in writing. About 95 % ofthe customers don't even read the contract they are signing. Which is a big mistake on their part.

But over the years the growing sentiment has been on getting it for free and not caring about asking questions about the install. I once had a customer tell me he did'nt give a rats a*s about a warranty.

I used to get asked all kinds of questions. The consumer is not asking those questions anymore. It's the same general question , is it going to cost me anything or its free right.

People only start asking those questions once they feel they got screwed. This is why the experienced dealers are going by the way. I went to a Dish Network meeting last March and after 26 years in the business. I didnt reconize anyone there at the meeting. Their isn't much experienced dealers left in the business.

Directv installers have to take a test and pay for it .Then once a year pay to renew their installers license. Taking a test and passing it . Doesn't make you an experienced tech.

Dish Network requires their dealers to carry liablity and vehicle insurance. That when I either do a new install and or a equipment upgrade. That may nameand company name are on the contract. That the customer will sign whenI'm done with the job. MY customer get several pieces of paper with all my info on it repeatedly. There is no reason why they can't get a hold of me.

My installs whenI mount the dish to the roof. I used about half a tube of silicon chalking. Then i find a rafter to anchor 2 of the lag screws into it. Then the 4 outer holes on the mount get anchored intothe decking. Then i cover the screw heads with silicon chalking. I've gotinstallations that are 13 years old now . That have no leaks into the customers house.

The installs that i go out on. ThatI didn't do the install for the customer. They are not sealed to the roof. If i had to move the dish . I would inform the customer to what and why iI have to move the dish . I would have left the foot pad mounted on the roof and left it alone.

It doesn't hurt to call around to a few dealers and talk to them . Ask them all the same questions. Let me give you some idea.

I started in the Air Force as a Air Traffic Control Radar Repair for 4 years. I worked for a company repairing tv for a little over 2 years. I started in the satellite business in 1984 for a company building and repair actuator control boxes for the big c-band dishes. I worked for this company for a little over 2 years. Then got installation of the big c-band dishesI also repaired receivers,LNA's, LNB's, Actuators, Actuator control boxes. Just not for my customers, but also for other dealers in my state.

I've been in the satellite business now for 26 years. I've been a Dish Network dealer for 13 years now. That dish only requires me to give you the customer a 6 month warranty on my installs. ButI will give you a written one year warranty for my work. After thatI will charge you a service call.

Also while doing the Dish Network installs .I'vebeen helping a friend install tornado sirens for the past 12 years.

My expertise is in taking the 2 dual tuners and installing them in such a way. That when I'm done the customer can watch all 4recievers on every tv in their home. It works great with DVR's. I've been doing it longer than AT&T has been doing their all 4 DVR's in all the rooms. On some of my installs my customers can watch all 4 receivers, their DVD player and the local tv antenna on every tv in their home.

I also have a handfull of customers repair their computers for. I'm into leathercraft and even made wallets for customers. There isn't much my customers don't know about me.

I would also suggest that you get Panamax surge protectors. The Panamax not only protects against surges. They also rf and emi noise filters built in. Theyalso protect from over and under voltage coming into your equipment. Also to call a licensed electrician and talk to them about. Having whole house surge protector installed in your breaker box.

Waiting to find out later you should have called several dealers to ask them questions . Is just a little to late. I dont mind the questions and even have advised the potential customers to call other dealers.

Also as long as you don't have your service bundled. An authorized Dish Network dealer canalso do the upgrade of your equipment. As a dealer I'm required to follow Dish Network guidelines. Then you might also find a dealer that goes above and beyond what they are required to do.

But you will never know if you don't call and askquestions. I answer questions for thoseI didn't even install their equipment.

I realize I'm not perfect and have made mistakes over the years. But i also try to make the customer feel like it really is theirhome and not mine.

I onced repoed a C-band dish for a company .I collected the equipment out of the hosue and left the c-band dish. Then I went on my marry way.6 months laterI was watching the local news on night. I saw this woman talking about the cops andherhusband i reconized the woman and the dish in her yard that wasn't part of the repo. Her husband went crazy and went after the cops with a knife They shot and killed him.

I did a install for a couple that werent married , but they were living together. I showed up and he wasn't home yet . SoI unloadedthe equipment out of my truck. He showed up andI did the walk thru with him.Her little 4 year old was calling him daddy. She would go that is not your daddy. He went outside to do some work. I over heard hersay to the little boy . Now go get your daddy and tell him dinner is ready.

Two months after the install on the news . She shot her live in boyfriend and then turned the gun on her 4 year old son. Then spent 2 days writing out 14 pages of nonsense. Then she decided to take her own life.

Your right in that you really don't know. If your dealing with a theif , murder or rapist.

Are You In Danger ???

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, December 30, 2010

If Dish is sending out subcontractors to your homes how do you know they have been given background checks and drug screens? Maybe they're ex-cons or drug addicts looking to make a little extra money. You were probably in danger. How did they identify themselves at you door? A gangsta hand signal?

What this Steven will offer you is some kind of free upgrade (which won't be free) and then upon your acceptance, lock you into another two year or 18 monthcontract.

It has happened to others.

Terrible Internet Service

AUTHOR: Mike - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 29, 2010

Mike from Colorado SPrings with Dish/Wild Blue Platinum internet service. Been locked in 18 month contract for 1.5mbs service. Constantly been running closer to dial up speed at average of 120kbs speed. Called, troubleshooted and given the run-around since the start. They wanted to charge $95 for tech call. As soon as our contract was up, this last month, tech came out for free since we threatened to cancel. Sent 2 techs with no luck. Techs acutally gave advice to get rid of Dish. This company is charging gold and delivering silver, maybe copper...Although with the Obama govt inflating our $$ thru the roof I'd take silver anyday..side note. This company is not what they seem... Do not give them your business. Trying Hughes or Skybeam next..

Dish Customer Service

AUTHOR: anonymous - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 29, 2010

Perhaps if Dish Network spent a fraction of the time taking care of their current customers they wouldn't need full time internet people searching the internet to respond to customer complaints that they aren't going to do anything about anyway!
