Author.

Rip-Off Report No.:

549499

ARBITRATOR DECISION

Bruce Meyerson,

Arbitrator

Complainant, David Amron, MD, Inc. (Complainant) has challenged the truthfulness of certain statements (each, a Statement) posted by Author Anonymous on the Ripoff Report website at www.ripoffreport.com on January 4, 2010, as Ripoff Report No. 549499 (the Report) Further, Complainant is challenging the status of the Author. The Author contends that the Complainant provided an unsatisfactory liposuction procedure. The Complainant denies the allegations in the Report and further contends that the Author is not a former patient. Both the Complainant and the Author have agreed to submit the dispute to the Ripoff Report VIP Arbitration.

Each Statement challenged by the Complainant has been considered, together with any Witness Statements and Documents provided by the Complainant for determination of the truth or falsity of the Statement. The Author has not provided a response to the Complaint.

I have been asked to decide whether the preponderance of the evidence submitted establishes that each Statement is true or that it is false. If the statement identified by the Complainant is determined to be an opinion, no determination will be made as to that particular Statement because an opinion cannot be determined to be true nor false. I also have been asked to decide whether the preponderance of the evidence submitted establishes whether the Author is, in fact, a former patient of Complainant.

Discussion and Ruling on Statements

Each challenged Statement submitted by the Author is set forth below together with my comments and ruling:

1. Statement: His secretary told me he was indeed a Plastic Surgeon

Discussion: Under the Ripoff Report VIP Arbitration Rules, statements in the Report are presumed true. The Complainant states in his Affidavit that he is a Board Certified Dermatologic Surgeon and that his staff is trained to answer questions regarding his credentials. The report does not identify the date of the conversation or the name of the secretary who allegedly made the Statement. The Author was given an opportunity to provide evidence to support the Statement but did not do so.

Ruling: I find this Statement false.

2. Statement: He advertises that he is the best in the country.

Discussion: Complainant has provided an Affidavit denying this
Statement. The Author was given an opportunity to provide evidence to support the Statement but did not do so.

Ruling: I find this Statement false.

3. Statement: I had seen a list of prices on his website but the price he gave me was double that.

Discussion: Complainant has provided an Affidavit denying this
Statement. The Author was given an opportunity to provide evidence to support the Statement but did not do so.

Ruling: I find this Statement false.

4. Statement: [T]he quoted amount was just an estimate and that he didnt give me a written guarantee.

Discussion: Complainant has provided an Affidavit denying this
Statement. The Author was given an opportunity to provide evidence to support the Statement but did not do so

Ruling: I find the Statement False.

5. Statement: Lose the $2000 deposit I had to pay to book the appointment.

Discussion: Complainant has provided an Affidavit stating that the deposit is $1500, not $2,000. Complainant also has provided a sample Financial Quote Sheet which indicates that a $1500 deposit is required when surgery is scheduled. The Author was given an opportunity to provide evidence to support the Statement but did not do so

Ruling: I find the Statement False.

6. Statement: No stopping when I had asked him to.

Discussion: Complainant has provided an Affidavit stating that if a patient were to ask him to stop during surgery, he would so. Complainant further states that no patient has ever asked him to stop during a surgical procedure. The Author was given an opportunity to provide evidence to support the Statement but did not do so

Ruling: I find the Statement False.

7. Statement: I saw him making a pass at his Secretary.

Discussion: Complainant has provided an Affidavit denying the Statement stating that I have never and would never make a pass at an employee or patient as it is against my moral and ethical standards. The Author was given an opportunity to provide evidence to support the Statement but did not do so

Ruling: I find this statement false.

8. Statement: [H]e told me to take aspirin for the pain.

Discussion: Complainant has provided an Affidavit stating that the instructions given to patients state that no aspirin is to be taken before or after surgery. The Author was given an opportunity to provide evidence to support the Statement but did not do so

Ruling: I find the Statement false.

9. Statement: I lost a LOT of blood and my husband had to check me in the Emergency at the hospital.

Discussion: Complainant has provided an Affidavit stating that it would be the customary practice in such a situation for an emergency room physician to contact a patients treating physician. In his Affidavit, Complainant states that he has no record of any patient being taken to an emergency room. The Author was given an opportunity to provide evidence to support the Statement but did not do so

Ruling: I find the Statement false.

10. Statement: [T]o correct Dr. Amrons mess, itd cost me another $20,000 AND they can only fix so much as my body is permanently deformed.

Discussion: Complainant has provided an Affidavit stating that Statement must necessarily be false because so-called revision surgery would not customarily cost $20,000 but $4000 to $6500. The Author was given an opportunity to provide evidence to support the Statement but did not do so

Ruling: I find the Statement false.

Discussion and Ruling on the Identity of the Author

The Complainant denies that the Author is a former patient. The Complainant questions the identity of the Author because the Report (1) is strategically written with Search Engine Optimization and (2) was written by a competitor and is a total fabrication of events. The Author was given an opportunity to provide evidence to establish the Authors status as a former patient of Complainant but did not do so

Accordingly, I find that the Author is not a former patient of Complainant.

DATED this _____ day of March, 2012.

Last year, despite the economic crisis I decided to treat myself and use most of my savings to get liposuction. I had been unhappy with my body and diets had not been working. I tried to do as much research as possible and the one Doctor that kept on coming up in the searches was Dr. Amron in Beverly Hills. ((Statement REDACTED as false in accordance with Ripoff Report VIP Arbitration)) country and that HE is the "Liposuction Specialist" - he even has an radio show about liposuction.
I went to see him for a consultation. After waiting for over an hour, his secretary took me inside a consultation room. There, I waited another 30 minutes as he was busy with another patient. Why would you schedule a consultation then? I thought only hospital made you wait indefinitely, not private practices. I was really thinking of leaving but then he came in, looking like a cheap used car salesman. Rightfully so, many of you will say: Why didnt you leave then? Well, I should have but I guess my desire for a better me took over so I listened to his sales pitch.
Dr. Amron told me liposuction was perfect for me, gave me the razzle dazzle and told me I would look amazing. He quoted me an all inclusive price for all the areas I wanted to get treated. ((Statement REDACTED as false in accordance with Ripoff Report VIP Arbitration)). When I inquired about it, he told me I was bigger than the average patient and that itd require more work, hence more time, therefore itd cost more. Im 54 and I weigh 160lbs. Not a Victoria Secret model by any stretch but not morbidly obese either. Who are these prices for? Skinny-100lbs girls? I know, I know, I should have walked away then too but vanity took over, remember? Plus, he promised the price wouldnt change and that Id be happy about this life changing operation.
A month later, I show up at his office. Im nervous but excited at the idea of finally getting back the body I once had. My appointment was at 9am. Much like the consultation, I waited for one hour and fifteen minutes before I got called in! Unacceptable. I finally saw Dr. Amron again and although irritated at that point, I was still excited about this. He looked at me again and we talked some more about the operation. He then tells me that it would cost me even MORE than the amount he had told me during the consultation. I was outraged and told him he cant just "up" the price, but he said "yes he could" and ((Statement REDACTED as false in accordance with Ripoff Report VIP Arbitration)).

Here were my options at that point. I can leave, not get liposuction and ((Statement REDACTED as false in accordance with Ripoff Report VIP Arbitration)) or I can pay the extra $1,500 and have my body back (so he said). ((Statement REDACTED as false in accordance with Ripoff Report VIP Arbitration)).
The operation was REALLY painful and I felt that Dr. Amron was rougher than he could have been, ((Statement REDACTED as false in accordance with Ripoff Report VIP Arbitration)). Its as if he was upset that I had complained about the ever-increasing fees. I suffered throughout the entire procedure, ((Statement REDACTED as false in accordance with Ripoff Report VIP Arbitration)). He was sweating like a pig and sweat drops were dripping from his greasy forehead onto me. I felt violated.
After the procedure, he kicked me out like a piece of trash and told me Id be fine. Well, I WAS NOT FINE. I was in excruciating pain for almost a month! I called his office a few times to ask what I should do but I got to talk to him only once and ((Statement REDACTED as false in accordance with Ripoff Report VIP Arbitration)).
I came to find out more information about Dr. Amron. I found out he is NOT even a Plastic Surgeon. ((Statement REDACTED as false in accordance with Ripoff Report VIP Arbitration)) when I first called his office. I started wondering if he was even a real doctor. I mean, how many fraudulent doctors have we seen on 20/20 or other similar shows. I was scared. Also, it turns out that his specialty radio show is a show HE is paying for. Anyone with money can pay for a TV commercial or radio show. Especially when you RIP PEOPLE OFF!!! That doesnt make you an expert. Far from it. Hes a cheat, a crook and a thief. I should have relied of my first impression cheap, tacky, greasy used car salesman. You know the kind.
A year after my surgery, I went to several other surgeons to find out if they can do anything to help me. I have unevenness all over my body. I am deformed and disfigured. Its affected my life in more ways that I could ever imagine. I havent been intimate with my husband since the procedure over a year ago. I NEVER wear bathing suits anymore and living in Los Angeles, going to the beach is something I used to love doing. My self-esteem is at an all time low and so is my bank account because I spent way more money than I had planned because of Dr. Amron's greed. ((Statement REDACTED as false in accordance with Ripoff Report VIP Arbitration)).
PLEASE DO NOT get any kind of operation by Dr. Amron. He needs to be stopped and exposed for what he truly is a slimy, money-hungry criminal. ((Statement REDACTED as false in accordance with Ripoff Report VIP Arbitration)) We couldn't believe it. Whatever he does behind closed doors is none of my business but when I have to witness such offensive behavior, I feel I have the right to address it.
Is there anyone else who experienced something similar with Dr. Amron? Are you not satisfied with your results? We should get together and do something about it.
My life is ruined because of this man. I spent all my money and got nothing but a deformed body to show for while my money paid for his Ferrari and fancy home. I got nothing in return, just unhappiness and problems. ((Statement REDACTED as false in accordance with Ripoff Report VIP Arbitration))
DO NOT GO TO DR. AMRON!!! Let's stop this crook!!!

Letter to the OP I(Original Poster)

AUTHOR: Amazed - ()

POSTED: Sunday, January 26, 2014

This letter is for the Original Poster:

Sometimes doctors refuse to perform Cosmetic Surgery on patients who are not emotionally stable, such as yourself. They also do not perform Cosmetic Surgery on patients with unrealisitic expectations, such as yourself.

I think ALL doctors should have ALL Cosmetic Surgery Patients undergo Pre-Counseling to make SURE they are not emotionally disturbed about the real expectations of Cosmetic Surgery, such as yourself. I don't think the REAL problem is the doctor. I think the real problem is YOU. (orginal poster)

You DO understand the Cosmetic Surgery is SURGERY? This means your body is usually cut into by a scalpel, you are usually unconscious, you get anesthesia, your body is invaded by a foreign object, such as sponges, sutures, scissors. While you are unconscious, it takes a highly skilled Anesthisologist to keep your heart and breathing regular.

You also understand it is RARE to sue a Plastic Surgeon? Your results are never promised 100%. At best, you can expect some improvement. My lipo left me with small dents where the suction device entered. But I did NOT blame the doctor. You are cutting into and invading the body and it has it's own way of fighting off whatever is introduced to it. I should have massaged the area but I did not. It is my war scar if you will because the outcome was fantastic, minus the wound scar (dent).

What I am really saying is, if you are not emotionally stable, not mentally sound, then you should not expect a doctor to solve your own issues with your flabby or fat or uneven or unbecoming physical appearance. Had the doctor REFUSED to perform SURGERY on you, well then, that would have been a WIN-WIN situation for everyone.

This Is Not The Doctor I Know

AUTHOR: Ana K - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, March 03, 2012

I just happened to be browsing and was stunned to see this report on Dr. Amron. I am a patient of his. Our relationship goes back about 5 years. I had liposuction done on my thighs and knees. And have had several skin care appointments with him.

The liposuction was as smooth as could be, with an amazingly perfect outcome, no ripples, etc. And the initial very small scars eventually disappeared. He is warm and caring and very thorough. And regarding the pricing of the procedure, he was very reasonable and consistent with me. His staff is equally as warm and caring. I simply can't explain the veracity of that report.  Based on my experience, it is just hard to believe.

I wold recommend him for liposuction to my family and friends any day. Meet him. Decide for yourself...

Rebuttal of report

AUTHOR: t8n2y5 - (Canada)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 14, 2011

I flew from Canada to see this Dr. because I had been told by several doctors in Canada that the only procedure to correct my condition was a tummy tuck.
I, like the original author had a terrible laser lipo experience with a Dr. in Edmonton who claims to be an expert and has ads on TV constantly.
To make a long story short.....the Dr. in Edmonton deformed me and I went to see Dr. Amron for a revision.
He put my body back into proportion by removing fat where I didn't even think it was necessary, but most of the work he did was correcting the irregularities and tightening my skin.
He was painfully honest with me, telling me that in all likelihood my results would not be very good as I was in such sad shape ( due to my previous botched liposuction )
I just asked him to do the best he could as I would be happy with ANY improvement.
My results exceeded my expectations. I am delighted that I chose him for my revision. He is amazing,
and for the first time in two years I am fully confident about the appearance of my body.
If I need any further cosmetic work done I will not hesitate to fly back to Los Angeles and have Dr. Amron perform it.
In my opinion he is first class, professional and affordable.

Great Results

AUTHOR: Diane - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 13, 2010

I wrote a rebuttle on February 1, 2010, which was only a week after having liposuction from Dr. Amron. I am pleased to report that my results are spectacular. I have never looked better or felt better about my body. The recovery process was so quick it was amazing. I am from the midwest and have no affiliation with Dr. Amron or his office other than seeking out his services and I am truly glad that I did. It is difficult for me to believe the original report. My experience was so much different and entirely positive. I'm not sure if this site allows others to contact the authors of these reports and rebuttals, but if so, I'm more than happy to share more details of my experience.

This woman sounds angry and out of touch......

AUTHOR: Lisa R - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, April 09, 2010

I am a former lipo patient of Dr. Amron and current dermatology patient.  I found this report when I looked up his  phone number online.  I really do think this site needs to patrol what people are posting.  I can honestly say Dr. Amron has been nothing but professional, upfront, caring, skilled and aware of costs.  He did a wonderful job on my lipo and has helped me with dermatology issues as well as I had my first filler treatment with him.  It sounds like this woman has low self esteem and probably was/is overweight, does not take care of herself and was expecting a miracle.  She also seems like she has pent up anger issues.  If her life is ruined because of a decision she made I think she should take responsibility for that as she sounds off the rails.  Dr. Amron is a dermatologist.  He never claims to be anything but that, he does not do plastic surgery. The other Doctor that he shares the office with is the plastic surgeon. The only procedure he does in operating rooms is lipo and he does it with a local, which is what I wanted as I did not want to go under.  Sometimes you feel something, but I have felt more pain when I get acupuncture.  If this woman went to court I am sure she would get laughed out of chambers or probably fined for a irresponsible lawsuit.  I think Dr. Amron should have his attorney have a word with this site as well for posting such a load of rubbish.

This report does not seem to be real.

AUTHOR: Trav8 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, April 02, 2010

After reading this report twice, I have concluded that it simply can not be real. It seems to be too well thought out. How could something like this possibly happen without being on the news and all over the internet? Having a "permanently deformed" body is a pretty big deal. I can't help but wonder, if this story is true, why didn't the patient sue?

If Dr. Amron is a "cheat, a crook and a thief," he wouldn't be so successful as a liposuction specialist. If he was a "cheap, tacky, greasy used car salesman," he wouldn't be featured in People Magazine and Cosmopolitan, and on VH1, Discovery, BBC TV, Entertainment Tonight, Good Day Live, KCAL9, and many other shows and magazines.

This story is too far-fatched. I believe it was written by someone who is affiliated with a competitor of Amron, or someone who just wants to see him fail.

RipoffReport.com needs to have a better way of filtering reports. Junk like this does not belong here.

Very pleased with Dr. Amron

AUTHOR: Diane - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, February 01, 2010

One year ago I had liposuction done in my home town and was unhappy with the results. It took many weeks for the massive swelling and bruising to subside and was very painful. The results were uneven and did not look good at all.

After extensive research and meeting with several doctors, I decided to get a consultation from Dr. Amron and flew to Beverly Hills. I waited only 10 minutes to see him and he spent around 45 minutes with me answering all of my questions. I felt so confident in his abilities that I made an appointment for the surgery for 10 days later.  I was a little apprehensive about having it done under local only, but agreed it was much safer than general anesthesia and I would probably get the best results.

I was so surprised how easy the surgery turned out to be. He and his nurses were wonderful. I tend to get very nervous, but they made me feel very calm and comfortable. I felt little pinches when they administered the local, but no pain. During the liposuction, I felt nothing at all. I was truly amazed. My hotel was one mile away and after the surgery was over, I felt so good that I asked if I could walk back to my hotel. They said no, that it would be best if they called a cab for me and my husband, since they had given me one valium. They had also given me a prescription for pain medication in case I needed it, but I only took one tylenol that evening. Dr. Amron called me that evening to see how I was doing and to answer any questions. I told him I felt great and appreciated him checking on me.

My bruising and swelling were very minimal and the next day I walked over 8 miles. I felt a little soreness in a couple of spots, as if I had worked out a little.

Three days later I flew home and felt perfect.   It will be a while before I see the total result, but so far, every thing looks even and smooth and I'm ecstatic. Dr. Amron and his staff were very professional and took very good care of me.
