I have just recieved a bill from E-470 for an original toll fee of $1.25, however the bill is now $75.00!!

I called the service number thinking surely this was some type of clerical error. I explained to the customer service lady that the bill had been being sent to my previous place of employment where I worked two years ago. She said it is not their fault that I never recieved a bill and should have checked with the DMV to ensure my mailing address was correct. I always thought that was something you do at the post office... Because that is where you update your address.

The only reason I was able to recieve this bill was because a previous co worker / friend noticed it at work & forwarded it to me. The kicker is, when I called, the lady said the fee is actually from an unpaid toll in June 2011. I explained how that wasn't even on this bill & I had never recieved that one either. So here I have a $75.00 fee that I cannot afford to pay.

They told me this was going to go on my credit report. If also like to mention if your new to the area, it's not even clear that you are on a toll road. They simply snap a picture of your license plate, find some random old address for you & start billing you.

So just to recap, my original fine was $1.25 now they are demanding my payment Of $75.00.

There is no way I can afford to pay this and I will be sure to tell everyone and anyone who mentions the word driving, denver, toll or anything remotely related about this literal highway robbery scam . I will also NEVER drive on E-470 again. I will happily pay the original fee, but OVER MY DEAD body will they get a penny more. This is morally wrong & needs to be stopped!

"  The address they were sending my bill to was NOT the one registered with the DMV/ Car Registration.

Nice try.   Your original post seemed pretty clear.

"  She said it is not their fault that I never recieved a bill and should have checked with the DMV to ensure my mailing address was correct. I always thought that was something you do at the post office... Because that is where you update your address. "

So, did they just pull this old address of yours out of thin air?

If they identify your car by its license plate, there is only one place they go to find the address that belongs to that vehicle.   The DMV.

"  However you state that I am the one who is wrong because I recieved bills and chose not to pay. I DID NOT RECIEVE ANY BILLS. "

Now who has a reading comprehension problem?  I didn't say that you received bills.  I said that they sent them.  It was you that pointed out that you were not aware how to keep your address of record current at the DMV.

Dear Flyn, Just to clarify my poor communication skills... The address they were sending my bill to was NOT the one registered with the DMV/ Car Registration.

Are you just a thread burner or perhaps an employee or do you have a deep desire to defend E-470 , which yes, IS UNETHICAL !

If you read my post properly you would see where I said I DID NOT RECIEVE ANY BILLS, However you state that I am the one who is wrong because I recieved bills and chose not to pay. I DID NOT RECIEVE ANY BILLS..

So any who.... Unless you are an employee here to offer a solution, go burn someone else's feed.. I've had enough stress dealing with this company & dont have time to read rebuttels from ignorant folks such as yourself.

And to the thirty plus others who have the same story as mine, I hope good ol' Flynn leaves you alone.. He obviously has nothing better to do

" Never recieved a bill & now late fees are outrageous! "

They sent you bills.   You didn't reply or pay on time.  Now you're subject to their late fee.

"  She said it is not their fault that I never recieved a bill and should have checked with the DMV to ensure my mailing address was correct. I always thought that was something you do at the post office.. "

Well, according to your post, it's actually not their fault that you didn't receive a bill.  So whose fault is it?

Here's the real problem.   It's right where you say "I always thought....".   Just because you "thought" something does not mean you are right.   In fact you are quite wrong and your assumption about address changes is what actually caused this mess.

Maybe this will help you out in the future.    Any correspondence dealing with motor vehicle action or infractions will be sent to the address that you have provided to the DMV.   Colorado state law requires you to update this address within 30 days of moving to a new address.   By not bothering to follow this law, you open yourself up to this happening again and again.  You're lucky it's only happened once (so far).

"  This is morally wrong & needs to be stopped!  "

How is this morally wrong?   You didn't follow the law and are now subject to the consequences.
