My account with Fingerhut was covered by the Safeline Account Protection Plan. Each month my payment included the cost of being covered by this 'insurance' plan which would supplement and protect my account should I become unable to make payments.

Unfortunately, I was laid off. Lost my job. Requested benefits for my account which was covered by Safeline. The customer service rep was extremely rude to begin with. Each time I called--- I got her. I felt as if she was the only person working in this department. Finally, after requesting several times for the paperwork in which to apply for this benefit I had paid for---I received the benefit request form in the mail.

I sent in all the required documentation regarding my unemployment. Soon thereafter, I received a big fat 'benefit request DENIED!' I was appalled and shocked to say the least! I felt that my account met the requirements-- I made my payments...now that I was unemployed, how in the world could they deny me? Not to mention that my account had already accrued over a hundred bucks in late fees. Horrible.

I wrote the Better Business Bureau. I wrote the president of Fingerhut. I wrote and wrote, furiously. Why in the world would you pay for insurance if it's not there when you run into a situation and you need it?! What a rip off. What a fraud these people are. Now this account accrues 24/9% interest, 35.00 late payment fee, and it just keeps adding and adding.

I'd like to add that my credit history is done for. Forget trying to get on your feet with this type of account--it's only there to ruin everything you've worked for. I hope the world would take pause and really think before opening up a Fingerhut account. It's a sure way to ruin your entire life.

May I add that their debt collectors call my home 6 to 8 times per day!! This entire situation is the worst, and Fingerhut fraudently added an insurance account to my payment plan without my asking them to do so-- just to deny me when I needed it the most. This is a shame!!!!

SAFELINE--FINGERHUT--FRAUD

AUTHOR: Ericka - ()

POSTED: Friday, May 02, 2014

In my previous report regarding Fingerhut's Account Protection Plan--Safeline...I explained what they did to me regarding my account. I was told the reason they DENIED me was due to not being unemployed three months from the time of enrollment. Malarky. They had no problem taking my money for this coverage. It's clear they would have denied me no matter what information they requested from me...this decision took weeks after I submitted the information they requested, at which time MORE late fees accrued on this account. They never even made a minimal payment, which this 'insurance' called Safeline indicated it would. This was the entire reason for paying for this coverage. It's all a rip off. A scam. I would not advise anyone to do business with this company. The customer service is horrible. Should your account become delinquent for any reason--mine was waiting for Safeline to come through-- your calls are immediately routed to the nasty collections department; and they are the rudest people on earth. Never have I been treated so horribly over the phone. Ask to speak to a supervisor-- they won't give you their names. They just make a fool out of you, and laugh at your situation. Emailing the president, Mr. Tate or any of the executives...go right ahead. You get NO response. This whole ordeal is an emotional rollercoaster. Kudos to their marketing department because they truly know how to reel a consumer in--only for that consumer to be trapped in the biggest and most devasting credit rip off on this planet. Take it from me, if you get an invitation from Fingerhut--BURN IT!! Don't walk away from the pile of crap...RUN. Don't look back! This scam is the worst there is. Contact the Better Business Bureau. Contact lawyers representing class action lawsuits against the practices of this company. I did. If it takes forever, I will fight and fight. I intend to turn the tables on these crooks. They have no problem taking your money for this fraudulent 'account protection' plan....but wait till you need it...REQUEST DENIED!!!! Fight this fraud and don't give up. Oh and don't bother calling the customer service department or the Safeline account department...you get the same person..BRENDA..who is as rude as they come. Contact a lawyer.

You "forgot" to mention WHY they denied your claim...
