The heat on my 2.5 yr old dryer stopped working and I just had a repairman (not affiliated with GE) stop in today.  Apparently the ignitor needed replacing and subsequently he found that the safety switch was on for the motor. The entire motor would need to be replaced.  Total cost would be $400. He recommended that I buy a new dryer instead but not a GE. He said GE's are the least expensive to buy and the most expensive to fix. He said to go with a Whirlpool or Maytag.  Seems like most people I know have dryers that are 10 yrs old.
