General Information Services,Inc General Information Sytems is the new "LAW"... They morphed my Misdemeanor charges into "FELONIES"... They cost me not 1, not 2, BUT 3 JOBS!!! Chapin South Carolina

GIS has caused me to get denied by TWO different employers-Level One and American Credit Acceptance. I am an Honors Student at Greenville Technical College and I am also a member of the Alpha Zeta Sigma chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, yet when General Information Services gets involved, I can't get a job. In December of 2013 I will have obtained my Associate in Business Management and would like to start my career, but they are hindering this. The firrst time they FALSIFIED my report they put a shoplifting charge that wasn't mine on there, which lost me the job at Level One-Real Estate. This time they reported TWO FELONIES on my background, which costed me the job at American Credit Acceptance-Collections Agency. I admit that I have made some mistakes in past. I had already disclosed the misdemeanor charges to the employers in advance and was still offered the job-pending my background results. Then, WALA, the offers were both rescinded. What do I receive in the mail box 2 days later? A packet from GIS with false information on them. Then you call them and dispute it and they sound so nonchalant on the phone, as if it's not your life they are sabotaging. They say they'll correct it and send a copy of the updated information to the employer. Gee, Thanks!!! The problem with that is that the employer doesn't want me anymore. IT"S TOO LATE!!! I mean, what kind of protocol do they operate on? Shouldn't they have to verify the information as TRUE ... BEFORE they RUIN YOUR LIFE???? They have got to be stopped. These companies need strict regulation...NOW!!!! What can I do?

HUH!!!!

 I have a couple questions. So the DATA collection agency does not have to be responsible with the information they will report? They can just send anything they can or want without checking the validity of the information? (They get compensated very well by the hiring authority) So they should just send any information they want, receive compensation and have no backlash what so ever? Mind you, if they send negative and false information on someone (anyone), sometimes it takes months for that person to clear their name and finally get hired at no fault of their own. Mind you, normal people dont have plenty off money in the bank to just sit and wait.  So lets say it takes three months to clear your name and finally get hired. So, thats 3x rent, car, cell, food, electric, insurance, etc... Normal bills, normal people have. Now your behind three months and it could be thousands of dollars behind at no fault of your own and Comsumer #1 Comment says your acting like a child and be an adult about it. comical.... These data collection companies should be a little bit more responsible, they can, will and are affecting real peoples lives. All that is asked, is that they ensure accuracy before hand in order to  not delay the hiring process because people need jobs now... not months down the road.

 They are not a fact checking service. They are ONLY a DATA collection agency. They enter in your information and report what comes up. The how and why of your personal criminal career DOESNT factor into the job that they do. They are the messenger, and you people wish to scalp the messenger because the information THEY found. I would think that you people ARE smarter then that. I guess Im wrong on that point.

If you find something that is not true on the report, then you call and disput it. You may think that you lost those job ops, but employers are smarter then you think, if you went back and was able to show the correction then they have to offer the job again. Because you would have been disreguarded because of FALSE information. I had a similar incident where I was accused of a crime, although I have never commited a crime. Once I called and challenged it, they fixed it, I went back in with the amended back ground report and was hired. So you may not be out of a job.

Stop jumping to conclusions. Take a deep breath. Then handle your business like an adult and NOT like a 15 year old girl. Children cry whine and stomp their feet when life doesnt go their way. Its a CLERICAL ERROR!! Not them judging you, not them attempting to sabotage YOUR life. They do not know you and have no other agendy other then doing as their clients ask. If that information paints you in a bad light, then thats ALREADY out on the web in public records. All they have done is collect ANY information they can find on you that is FREELY available. Nothing more.

Its not THEIR job to ensure the accuracy of WHAT they find. That is YOUR job. If you got denied at the first job because of bad information online, then one would think that YOU would want to get this information cleared up BEFORE you apply again.

 There is a Law Firm in pennsylvania called Francis and Mailman you should contact. Also, look online and see King v. GIS, Hutchinson v. GIS and there are several others as well. You are protected by the FCRA ( Federal Credit Reporting Act). I have had a similar problem with GIS. They reported FALSE information on my report and cost me the job ( I Have no criminal record). I disputed the file and they cleared me. But even so, you are still entitled to retrabution.

GIS.. Is conducting a background check for Express Scripts who I just recently got an offer later of employment and suppose to be starting 09/03/2013. Well of course this is not my first run for a  job especially a background check. I have been employed at all the places I put down I graduated in 2007 with a Highschool diploma never been arrested no misdermeanor no felon nothing. When I went to Express Scripts I explain to them that I have went through alot with burying my mom and both of my grandmothers in the past year so Im not sure of the exact dates but they should be somewhat close.,

And for the first two jobs I checked DO NOT contact, because I had my w2s to support I ve worked there. They said that was fine GIS was suppose to ONLY verify that I was employed there if i graduated and if I ever been in trouble and the rest of the little things address ssn ect. Ok so I get a call from Michelle G. saying my dates are worng she called the two jobs I selected NOT to call saying well they said a different date... no s**t! I already went through that with the employer U just need to write YES employed there, Another job I said not to contact and she did sayn well I couldnt find you in the system.

I'm thinkning to myself First off  can I file a lawsuit for reaching out to an employer without my consent and when it clearly states may we contact this employer I checked NO and second WTF are u concentrating on the dates for as long as I worked there around the time I wrote down WTF does it matter U need to check if I'm a felon or do I have any warrants or If I have a highschool diploma or if I'm a citizen for that matter. So I explain to the lady I have my w2s I sent them over all of my w2s from all my employers. She then goes do you have pay check stubs... WHAT.. Y are you overdoing your job.

I told her no its been 4 months since ive been employed there and Ive moved around since then. She doesnt reply back. The next morning I wake up to AN employer verification report  that I guess they want me to sign I think Couldnt really understand it and I'm like I hope this lady is not still stuck on these f**king dates. So Long story short I might not get a great job because of my dates of employment and I dont know what she is going to put down/ after hearing falsified complaints and documents from other people thats going to be the first thing I look for beause I feel a lawsuit coming on.. Im going to do more research but for future reference

If you trying to get a job and GIS is conducting the background check u just might of hang it up there they give U no HOPE they but u through more s**t than the people that's trying to hire U.. P.s and she was alittle rude nonchalant seem like she didnt care and it is what it is attitude and she was going to find any reason to not pass me. I felt she didnt work with me at all NEVER answered her phone . An im a single mother with two kids no family never been in trouble educated have been employed at all the jobs I listed and shes gnna stop me from getting a  really good job because there not the exact dates????
