Great Expections has ripped me off from day one. AFter I gave them my credit card for a trial membership, it was used immediately for on-line gambling...over $300. I was not happy with this so I asked to cancel my membership immediately and have my $1000 deposit returned. They said that the membership will be cancelled but the money was non-refundable. I've written to them twice to get my money back but never got a response.
Since they never sent me any membership info or bills over the next 2 years, I assumed I was no longer a member and that I just lost $1000 and would get over it. Well it turns out that the company had never cancelled my mebership and in fact was charging me for their service without ever sending me a single bill.
I received a letter from a collection agency stating that I owed over $3000 and that they would take me to court. I immeditaely contact the comapny about this...explained to them I I had cancelled my membership and lost $1000. They said, noit to worry, it was a mistake, disregard the collection agency info. So I did.
Now I got a cell from another collection agency, Alternative Recovery Management, stating that they have filed a lawsuit with me...and have send me papers...which I never received.
I explained to the agent in charge of my case, Derrick Jones, the problems I've been having with this company and he recommeded that I see if there are any class action suits against Great Expectation.....and low and behold I found many complaints, like my own, with this company. I told him to send my paper work to my attorney in MD.....
My attorney said it sounds like a scam and that I should call the office of Consumer Protection of the state of Maryland's Attorney General's office to report this and check it out.
