There is no Honor in the Hilton Honors program.

My wife is a Hilton Honors member, and as with most programs like this, Hilton runs these periodic telephone marketing campaigns that are aimed at generating business for their hotels. I received one of these calls, and although I would normally hang up immediately, in this case I did not. I guess it was because of the Hilton Honor designation referencing my wife as a member. I think their choice of using Honor in their name has a positive psychological impact and stupid me I stayed on the phone.

I realize now that their goal is to get you to commit to a vacation at a significantly reduced price, in a location you are not familiar with, and provide you with only vague details. Their description was quite convincing and gave me the sense of paradise that I am always looking for in a vacation, and stupid me... I was sold. I gave them my credit card number, my address, my phone... I would have given them my first born, they were that convincing!

30 minutes later, after doing some research on-line, checking reviews of people that had vacationed at the Hilton Waikoloa Hawaii, I realized this was not the place for me. What do I do now? My first thought was nothing, if I was stupid enough to give them my credit card then this will be my $424.50 lesson. It does not sound like much, but I am certain that Hilton Honors appreciates my donation to their bank account.

So here I am 1 day, and many phone calls later, attempting to cancel this mistake with no success, I am writing this Rip-Off report to help avoid someone elses misfortune.

Please, do not become a Hilton Honors member, but if you do and they call, HANG UP. There is nothing to gain and quite a bit to lose. But if you want a 7day /6 night vacation at Hilton Waikoloa Hawaii...

Oh sorry that's right it is Non-Transferrable and Non-Refundable.
