Upon arriving at a hotel for a one night stay, I was shoked to learn that there was no wired internet access, even though I had asked for "Wired internet access".  So I made another reservation using Hotwire.com and I specifieda non-smoking hotel room in the Southwest area of Fort Worth before I made the reservation.  Hotwire website said they could not reveal the name of the hotel, because "the price was so low", so I went ahead and made the reservation.  I was then shocked to learn that Hotwire had reserved a hotel 45 miles away in Irving, Texas.  When I immediately called to file a complaint, I was told, "I had the chance to specify my preference when you made the reservation".  This lady did not want t understand that I had made a preference for the Southwest area of Fort Worth, not the Twin Cities area.

Not wanting to argue at 2:00am in the morning, I drove the 45 miles to Irving, Texas, and I received the second shock of the evening.  The hotel where they made a resevation for me, was hidden off the freeway in Irving, Texas, was an old, run down hotel where the fron doors would not even close properly, constantly being wide open.

I was told there were no non smoking rooms available (go figure this one outJ), and I said that was a deal killer right there. However, I took a look at the room for my own curiosity, and could not stand the putrid odor of old cigarette smoke, so I immediately too, my bags and left the hotel, and made reservations elsewhere as a walk in.

Upon contacting Hotwire.com about getting a refund, they initially refused to do so, on the grounds, that "I had chosen to spend the night at the hotel anyway, and there would be no refund. I screamed into the phone that I had not spent the night at that dismal hotel at all and that they were grossly misinformed.  After arguing it seems for hours, I was finally told that I would be given a credit for the reservation minus $50.00 for service fees.  At that time, I decided to give up, since I knew I was dealing with some stupid, ignorant jack asses and no amount of talking in the world would get through to these imbeciles.  I have not used Hotwire since then and will never use Hotwire again.  I am writing a report on horrible internet travel agencies, and this one will certainly go at the top of the list.  By all means, do not use Hotwire.com for anything to do with travel.  You are much better off gong somewhere else where the customer is treated with some semblance of respect.  Avoid hotwire.com!
