A LITTLE BIT OF A BACK STORY: I recently signed up for a KAIKU visa pre-paid card. I filed my taxes and had the money directly deposited onto the account. My husband was recently honorably discharged from the Army and is 90% disabled through the VA. We were stationed in North Carolina for four years. We now live back home in California, but all of our belongings have been in a North Carolina storage for a while now. We were planning on using our tax money to fly to North Carolina and rent a U-haul to move our belongings home. I am 8 months pregnant and we have two little children.

My husband and I are now STUCK in North Carolina with no money and no way to get home because KAIKU decided to place a "hold" on my account at about 3am this morning. My funds are unavailable (I guess buying two plane tickets and picking up a few things at Walmart screams fraud) I got an email that states "Your account has been suspended as a precaution; we would like to verify the recent transactional activity. Please contact our customer service department immediately at 1-855-285-2458 Sincerely, Risk Services." I contacted customer service and was asked to fax a copy of 1. My driver's license. 2. My social security card. 3. My 1040. 4. My W2. and 5. A utility bill in my name. Kind of hard to do when you're 2,600 miles away. My mother in law went to my house and faxed all of the information they needed. I called customer service again and was told that the department that receives the information is closed until Monday and that it will take 3 to 4 BUSINESS DAYS until it can even be PROCESSED!!!

I have had Bank Of America place a hold on my account when I tried to buy a $600 TV a couple of years ago. I called the bank (on a Sunday nonetheless) and verified the purchase. Ten minutes later I was walking out the door with my TV. THAT is understandable. THIS is not. MY money is in this account. I am a taxpayer and have earned every cent that is in that account. I do not appreciate my money being stolen and that is exactly what is happening right now. I am six weeks away from giving birth to my baby and I am stuck in a state 2,600 miles away from home because MY money has been wrongfully taken away from me. Please save yourself the headache and DO NOT USE KAIKU!!!!!

Account monitoring is required by Federal Law and is an important part of protecting our Cardholders and the integrity of our Card program. On Saturday, 2/15/14, the account was systemically blocked because the risk system recognized unusual spend activity in the State of California while the Cardholder states she was in North Carolina. An email was sent to the Cardholder notifying her of the block and to call customer service. The Cardholder was advised to fax verification documents in order for her account to be reinstated. The Cardholder was advised that faxes are only processed Monday-Friday. On Monday, 2/17/14, the documents were verified, the account was reinstated and the Cardholder had access to the funds.
