I started Keiser University 10-2012 for IT ( Information Technology) And it started out a little rough. I'm 63 and wanted to get another way to make money since being disabled. I passed the lst course, barely. Let me add I'm Educated. Went to Univ. of Maryland, 1969. I also scored high on the entrance exam and was able to take this IT course, which I was told is the hardest course they have. All my other classes I get frtom a 85 to an 88. These classes have teachers teaching and are there to make sure you get the material. My Core Instructor basicly gives a lot of homework but no actual teaching. We're giving chapters to read and to teach ourselves. I didn't grow up on a computer and always had secretaries to do that work. I moved up my Intro. to Computers class up from the 18th class to the 2nd one. I'm glad I did. Still speach, psycology, computer using I can learn. Especially when I have teachers to teach you. But to learn computers, inside them, CPUs, RAM, Hard Drives, BIOS, how to find them, replace them, or whatever, I need to be taught that. I remermber what I'm taught. The key word is; taught. I am the only one during the daytime in my core class. Only student.

No I didn't receive my degree. I'm less than half way. Thanks for information. My Core Teacher won't pass me, even though I've made up 90% of my work in, I admit, the extra time he gave me to finish it and still gave me a 60! I get 88,  85, 87 in other classes. I won't sit by and let Keiser get paid, and they did, before I'm finished. Thank you. I haven't given up.

Gov't will come after your disability check

C'mon, you have your degree already. How in the world do you think you will be able to pay that back? Not only will the gov't go after your SSI, they'll also go after your SSD. You should have gone to a community college, and schools like this piss me off, because they know you're not investing in anything outside of debt. They just sit there making money from the disabled.

But, as I'm sure you know, you can discharge your loan debt and collect the tax payers hard earned money from the Pell grant and loans that no doubt you'll be able to pay back. Who do you think pays off your loans if you can't?

This school's crime is enrolling you into getting into debt.

But, then again, as I'm sure you know you can discharge this debt once you bounce from school to school, collecting your refunds up to $60,000 bucks in 12 semesters, right? Just have your doctor let the DoE know that you can't work.

Schools like this should be shut down. No wonder America is broke.

If someone is disabled and know good and well they're not going to ever get out there and use their degree then don't waste the tax payers money by going to such and expensive or private school. Go to a community college, you'll get a bigger refund check. you don't need to take loans. Gosh, people need to see what they are doing to the economy.

I'm not saying disabled shouldn't work, but if your disabilty won't allow you to get out the house and work, or in this bad economy, age discrimination is rapid, then why in the world would you do this to yourself and tax payers?

Just to remind those who choose to go to a private university especially those online only, they are for profit and will try to minimize their cost while maximize their profit. The online one is the cheapest cost in a long run for them because they can simply reuse the material without the need of hiring someone to do the real teaching.

If you expect to get an education via the Internet only but have the real classroom expectation, you will be disappointed. They are two different approaches. The online version is only for those who can teach themselves. The classroom is for any kinds because students are under supervised.

Is it a rip off for this type of university? I would say yes. However, one must understand the consequence before making the decision. Sadly, this type of universities are good at advertising, and many people fall for it.
