My boyfriend was in the county jail, and had been calling me through Telmate (for which I have no complaints. Very helpful, and they refunded my money when my calls didn't go through). When he was being released he called me from the jail's payphone. He told me that the phone had told him that our house phone doesn't except collect calls, and hung up. I RECEIVED (on 8/10) a phone call from a payphone and answered it. I did what it told me to, I entered my card information and a recorded voice told me my call would be connected. No one was on the other line and I hung up. Today on 8/12 I checked my bank online and they had charged me $19.94 for a call that didn't get to take place. I went to their website and found no rates to be listed anywhere. This is not right!

I never should have been charged for the call, for:
1. He hung up! Right there a voice should have told me that the other person had hung up and the call should have ended immediately!(Telmate did inform me when he had hung up!)
2. How can a person be charged $19.94 for a phone call that lasted less than 1 minute?

I didn't even talk to anyone. I am going to call and have a chat with them (which seems like doesn't work), ask for a copy of the "so called" conversation that racked up a hefty bill, and ask that it be removed. If they refuse I have no problem disputing the charge with my credit union. Mind THEM, a credit union I have been a loyal customer for, for over 12 years, and have done a lot of business with them. I have never once filed a dispute with them, so I know they would have no problem refunding my money and this company can deal with them! I also will be filing a complaint to the FCC, FTC, and where ever else I can. Except the BBB they don't have them on file. I wonder why?

Finally Got My Money Back

AUTHOR: Alissa - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 01, 2010

After many phone calls, and many arguments with management and a horrible "support staff. I finally got my money back.

I had to file a dispute with my bank, who couldn't do anything. But, out of courtesy, my bank filed a dispute with VISA. VISA had asked me for a detailed receipt justifying the charges. Which HAS to be provided from any business upon request. So, I called to get one and they told me they don't do that. I in turn told them that VISA required it, and as a  "customer" was my right to obtain.

Since they could not provide me with a detailed receipt they had no choice but to give me a refund in full. I hope this helps anyone else who has trouble with these "people".
