Coast Cedar Homes & Sun Rooms and Lindal Cedar Homes, Inc. took deposits from me and my husband two years ago to build a home on our property. They delivered a stock set of plans (which are proprietary and cannot be used), but no materials or other services. My husband died before we got any further in the process. At first, Ed Gerhig from Coast Cedar Homes said I had the option of receiving a "hardship" refund of all but $4,500.00, which he said was the cost of drafting and engineering. Even that seemed a bit high to me for stock plans, but I thought it was better than nothing. Well, that option disappeared almost before it was offered. Mr. Gehrig instructed Lindal to create another set of plans for a smaller version of the house we intended to build, without my knowledgge and without any authorization from me. Over a year and a half and many many unkept promises and unreturned phone calls to Gehrig and Ted Cormier (who also promise to at least "research the option of a refund under the circumstances), the Regional Manager, I finally received a letter giving me three options. First option: I could authorize shipment of materials (can not afford to do so after my husband's death). Second option: Sign a termination agreement and receive not a single penny in refund. Third option: Put the project on hold and pay the going price at some future date if and when I'm ever in the position of being able to build the house.

Thanks alot Lindal!!

Lindal's Interstate Fraud (again) at it's best

AUTHOR: Edwin - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, December 23, 2007

Joanne

The Lindal business ethic is to soak you for every penny they can. False promises, deceptive claims and outright lies by the dealer are designed to lure you into a Lindal contract. The pricing is deceptive and undocumented and riddled with false charges, especially when a problem or dispute arises. Dodges, delays, passing the buck between the dealer and Lindal and double charging for services rendered. The Dealer in your case, an out of state Non Lindal business entity, works directly with Lindal in Seattle to scam you of your money. Interstate Fraud at it's best. The trouble is little of it ends up on paper!

Depending on what plans you received and what was in your contract and any itemized pricing for materials you might have received (good luck there). you may be able to get some (maybe all) of your money back. Although not without a fight from Lindal and quite a bit of harassment, threats and strong-arming to go along with that.
If your plans were dealer only then Lindal and your dealer have fraudulently retained your funds, as they always do!

Lindal will NOT research your problem. They tell you that to keep you busy as they have your money and sooner or later they know you'll just go away after chasing them for 1 or 2 years. Lindal "customer service" is really "customer disservice" and is designed to impede any and every attempt at problem resolution.

Others have been burnt by the Lindal experience and you are NOT alone. If you can, make copies of all your paperwork and forward / E-Mail them to sundesign123.com (you can delete or black out personal information) and a detailed account of your experience with Lindal, we may be able to help.

Do NOT attempt arbitration as this will probably result in a greater loss for you and a net gain for Lindal. Arbitration is exceptionally expensive and a "For Profit" business and is NOT governed or regulated by State or Federal laws! Every dispute handled by arbitration disappears forever and that is why you see very little evidence of Lindal's dirty deeds!

Lindal may also try (intimidate) to get you to sign an agreement to keep quiet for "some" of your money back. You should think carefully about signing your first amendment rights away in exchange for your misappropriated money! Lindal is notorious for this and may threaten you with legal action if you do not. (We were threatened by Gene Harfst / Lindal sales, with legal action if we did not take their ridiculous offer).

I know of a Seattle Attorney that helped another customer and will pass his name along through Sundesign. He is quite good and has dealt with Lindal before.

Consult with an attorney on your legal rights and options. The most important thing is to get your experience out in the public arena so others may learn from your experience and that Lindal and every deceptive dirtball that conspires with them, gets ANOTHER black eye that they so justly deserve!

Good luck Joanne!
