This company is a FRAUD! They are out to take your money!! DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT with these people!! DO THE MATH! These people are out to RIP YOU OFF!! I was told by Gerald Linder (the owner) that if I changed my mind I would get my money back. On 6-8-12 I sent Linder Truck Leasing/Lines a partial
deposit of $500, On 6-22-12 I sent another deposit of $500 for a total of
$1,000 on a 2005 International Tractor. I was told by Gerald Linder that it
would be atleast a week before I could pick up the truck because the truck was
in the engine shop. After many phone calls he told me everything was ready on
7-6-12 and I could make arrangements to be there on 7-9-12. I caught a bus from
Atlanta, GA to Summerville, SC arriving there @ 0745 on Monday 7-9-12. When I
got to the shop I met Gerald and he stated he was only waiting for a
signed copy of the lease from the trucking company that I was going to work
for.
After a phone call the trucking company stated that the lease had to be in
my name & Gerald would not agree to it and stated I would have to put
another $1000 down before he could do that. I told him that I did not have the
money right now. So, his son (Andy) said "well we will have to wait until you pay the other $1,000 before we can do that, you can just go home and come back when you have the balance". Gerald said "To be honest I have to have this truck leased to somebody by the end of the week". He then pulled a stack of papers out of his desk and said all these people are waiting for trucks and I only have five. Initially the term of the lease was 3 years. But, he changed
the term to four years because the truck had a rebuilt engine ($25,740.00 for an inframe) making the total
cost of the truck $102,960.00 for a 2005 International.
I caught a ride home
with a truck driver and contacted Gerald on 7-11-12 to inform him that I did
not want the truck and I wanted my deposit refunded. He stated that it would
be a minimum of 30 days before I could get my deposit IF he decided to give
it back. I have never signed any contract whatsoever. But this company is trying
to RIP me off for $1,000. Gerald kept telling me that the deposit was not refundable according to the contract. But, I never signed a contract. He kept trying to make up excuses as he go as to why I could not get my money back. Finally he said "That's just the way it is". This is a very SHADY company with two SHADY characters in the office as owners. They have a little "hole in the wall" shop with junk trucks and truck parts everywhere. They will take parts & tires from one truck to put on another truck just to get someone in it. Keep in mind the maintenance cost is yours after you sign that contract.

You're A LIAR!!!

You're A Liar!! First of all you can't stop payment on a U.S. Postal Service Money Order. You are still trying to justify holding my money when you have no right to. You received both money orders the next business day because I sent them overnight and you signed for them. So, you had both money orders....the last one by 6-25-12 and I showed up two weeks later on 7-9-12. But, you have to make sure that payment had cleared the bank...Really?....you could have thought of something better than that. Next, you add all this information to your website about refunding deposits and the full deposit required after the fact. Then you come on here and state it's on your website. Then, you flat out lied when you say I showed up and demanded that the lease be in my name. When I spoke to Gerald on 7-6-12 he stated that he had the lease from the trucking company and it was in Linder's name he was just waiting for a signed copy from the company. But, when the girl tried to get the V.P. to sign the lease on 7-9-12, he refused because they required it to be in my name. Then you say I was trying to get away with paying half of the deposit..that's nonsense!!! I would have never wasted my time or my money coming to S.C if I was not told by Gerald everything was ready and it would only take 1 hour and I would be on my way. You then say" you turned people down because you were holding the truck for me". That's funny because your daddy said it was in the engine shop until 7-6-12. You are a bunch of LIARS!!!

This post was just brought to our attention. Weve never had
to respond to a complaint like this. Since our reputation does matter to us, we
are responding to this so that anyone interested in our program understands the
full details. So, heres the other half of the story.
First of all, this customers deposit is
being refunded and the customer was notified in writing from our office that
the deposit was being refunded. We sent confirmation to him within a day or two
of receiving notification from the customer that he wished to back out on the
transaction. We are not holding a deposit for a minimum of 30 days. Per our
website, if someone changes their mind a deposit will be refunded no later than
30 days. Generally, it comes much quicker. But, we allow up to 30 days to
verify that their check has actually cleared our account and that a check has
not been put on stop payment by the issuing bank. This customer is stating that
we are out to scam people. In reality the procedures we put in place are to
keep someone from scamming us. Before a refund is sent back to someone, we have
to verify; when their check was deposited, has it had enough time to clear, and
is there a chance a stop payment has been put on the check from their end. If
we issue a check immediately and then find out a week after that a stop payment
was put on the check by the customer (this can be done with personal or
certified funds) then we risk the chance of having those funds taken out of our
account even though we have paid a refund to the customer. So, if we jump the
gun to quick, we could end up paying someone their deposit refund just to have
their check cancelled. Plus, we would then be scammed out of the deposit refund
that we paid to them. We are not in the business to scam anyone out of a
deposit and we are also not in the business of being scammed out of money
ourselves.
So, that is our policy regarding the deposit if you decide
to back out. To be honest, our policy of refund within 30 days is also a
deterrent to anyone who is not serious about leasing a truck. If theres
anything we could be accused of doing wrong, it would be making it too easy for
some folks to get in to a truck. We require a low down payment and no credit
check. So, we have to be very careful about proceeding with someone. Our hopes
are that by telling someone that the refund may take up to 30 days, they will
make sure that they are serious about getting their own truck before paying a
deposit and putting the carrier and ourselves through the entire process of
leasing a truck with them.
Now, the other part of this story is the circumstances of
why this customer did not proceed. We have two different options for completing
a lease with the carrier (all detailed on our website). If the carrier will
deduct the weekly payment and forward to us, we can set the lease in the customers
name and the carrier will pay you directly. If you choose this option, the full
deposit of $2,000 is required up front. We require it this way because once the
contract is set up with the carrier, most carriers do not want to have to
change the weekly deduction based on how much you paid for a deposit. It works
much smoother if the starting deduction with the carrier remains the same
through the contract. This is done to make things work better for all involved
(driver, carrier, LTL). If the carrier will not deduct the payment and forward
to us or if you do not have the full $2,000 up front, then we will accept as
little as $1,000 up front. In that case, settlements will be paid to us first.
We will deduct the weekly payments and you will receive your weekly settlement
directly from us. If the carrier will deduct the payment but you dont have the
full $2,000 deposit, you can start with the second plan and then switch to
having the carrier pay you directly after you have paid the full deposit. We
prefer to have the lease set in the customers name and have the carrier pay
you direct. But, we understand that not everyone has the full $2,000 to be paid
up front. In this customers case, we received a $1,000 deposit. So, we
contacted the carrier about setting the lease up based on this deposit. The day
the customer showed up to get the truck, he stated he did not want to do it
that way and had already had the carrier fill the lease out in his name even
though he had not paid the full deposit. Fortunately, the carrier he was
dealing allows either lease option. So,
we told the driver, we could proceed with this carrier with only his $1,000
deposit but it could not be put into his name until the full $2,000 was paid (the
customer would have been able to leave that day with the truck and immediately
started working for the carrier) or we would hold the truck for an additional
day or two for the customer to come up with the balance of the deposit based on
his request to change the lease into his name. We told him we were fine with
doing the lease either way. But, the option that he was choosing required the
full $2,000 up front (no scam here all requirements are detailed online we
try to make things as simple as possible). The customer/driver said no problem.
He said he didnt have the balance on him right then but he would go home and
come back the next day or no later than two days and bring the other $1,000
because he wanted to start out with the lease in his name. That was fine with
us because we prefer the lease is done this way from the start. When the
customer left our office everything was fine, he was happy with the truck and
eager to get back and pay the balance on the deposit to pick the truck up and
go to work for the carrier. Two days later we get a call from the customer
stating that he just decided to do something else for now and told us we needed
to overnight his deposit to him. Once we received confirmation from the
customer that he wished to terminate the transaction, we notified him (in
writing) that his deposit would be processed and he would receive his refund no
later than 30 days (not a minimum of 30 days as stated on his blog). At that
point, we took his truck off of hold and offered it to other customers that we
had turned away because the truck was being held for the first customer. Please note, we are not keeping the deposit
and are not charging any admin fees for this customer having us hold the truck
for him even though we had other customers we turned away based on the deposit
paid. In our opinion, what happened here is that this customer/driver tried to
slip through our system with only half of the deposit being paid. It was
explained up front the two different options and deposits required. The
customer waited until the day of pickup to inform us that he wanted the lease
set up differently and had already talked to the carrier about changing the
contract. We believe that once this customer realized he was not going to be
able to slip through the system, he basically got embarrassed and was just
looking for a way to call us back later to cancel. There was no need for that.
As stated before, even with only $1,000 this customer still could have left
with his truck that day. After the full $2,000 deposit was paid, he then could
have had the lease switched over. There were no issues on our end and the
customer could have handled this completely different.
Anyone who is interested in our program, I invite you to get
the facts for yourself. We try to provide all details on our website. Most
leasing companies are not going to provide as much detail as we do on their
website. We are not a high pressure sales lot. If anything, we will talk
drivers out of leasing a truck if we feel they are not serious enough about the
process or if we feel they just dont have a grasp on what it takes to run,
manage a truck, and be successful. Our program is more expensive than just
buying a truck outright from a dealership like Freightliner or International.
But, we require a much lower payment for a security deposit (down payment) and
we do not check your credit. Just because we dont check credit doesnt mean
were here to rip you off. We just give everyone a chance. The fact that we
dont check credit just means we have to be a little more cautious about
proceeding with someone and have to make sure that certain procedures are
followed. With our program if you decide two months into it that you want to
terminate it only takes a two week notification to terminate the contract. If
you purchased a truck from a dealership, you cant just turn the truck in with
a notice. You have to find someone to buy the truck out for the balance owed or
you have to suffer the consequences of repossession by the finance company plus
still owing the balance of the finance contract. With our contract, you are
leasing the truck with an option to purchase at the end for no more than the
amount you have already paid for the security deposit. If you check with major
leasing companies, their weekly cost on leasing is much greater than what we
charge plus you will not own the truck at the end of the lease period. We have
and have had many drivers that enter our program temporarily for different
reasons. It may be the first time theyve stepped out on their own running
their own truck and they want to be sure before they drop an $8,000+ down
payment to a dealership to purchase a truck that they will be required to fulfill
the full finance contract on. Or, they might lease from us until they have the
full deposit required to buy from a dealership or other company. Whatever the
reason, our program works and has worked for many drivers. We may not be as
large as many of the companies you see advertised online but we have already
had many drivers complete our program and receive their titles. Some have even
come back to us to buy a second truck because they hired someone to drive the
first truck that they have already paid off.
There are plenty of dealerships out there and plenty of
leasing companies and many times we will even recommend drivers to other
companies if we think its a better fit for them. Were not in the business of
filling quotas. We just want to keep our fleet moving and place trucks with
drivers that will be successful. A search online will return many different
companies that offer a lease program. In fact, if you search by our name, there
are many lease companies that have advertisements that will pop up on the same
page. We encourage everyone to explore those options as well. If there is a
better option out there, then we will be the first to tell you to take it. Youre
not going to see another lease company that tells you to search under their
name to help find other leasing companies to talk with. We would lease other
companies on this blog if there wasnt a legal issue involved. But, if someone
wants to compare other options, email or give us a call and we can put you in
contact with many other companies that offer programs that may be more suitable
for you.
The bottom line here is, we are happy to provide all details
to someone prior to leasing. We try to put everything online that we think
someone may have a question about. If its not listed online, then please call.
We are always happy to answer questions. Dont just take one persons word on
how our program works. Get the facts for yourself.
