I am soooo sorry that I took my car to this place! In September of 2011 I purchased a car from a private owner, a few months later I began to have soem problems. One Thursday on my way to work my car began acting strange and there was a lot of white smoke coming out of the tailpipe. I panicked and began calling repair shops to see who would be most reasonable. After several calls and quotes, I went on craigslist and found a place advertising car repairs with no credit check, no money down, and payment to begin within 30 days of repair.

I decided this would be the best option for me because I had recently moved into a new place and didn't have the 750-800 I was being quoted from other places at the time. I called and talked to Motor Maxx and was told the process was relatively simple and I would just be required to bring in proff of residency, my drivers license, and my car title. I eventually agreed to allow them to tow my car and repair it. I was assured that it would be repaired in no more than 3 days.

On Friday I called to see if they had a chance to look at my car and determine what was wrong, I was given the run around. I was told that the mechanic was gone for the day but someone would look at it tomorrow and would give me a call. I said okay and played the waiting game. The next day when I could not get an answer I went by there to find out what was going on. When I got there my car was sitting on the lot and they had not even looked at it.

I demanded to speak with the manager because I needed some answers; I felt that if they were not going to have a sense of urgency in completing the repairs I was going to pay for, I should just be told that in my face so I could have the car repaired elsewhere. Once I tol the manager that he promised someone would look at my car immediately, and would call me within 45 mins to tell me what they found. 3 hours later I received a call from them stating there were 3 things they needed to fix and I should be able to pick my car up by Tues as some parts had to be ordered from the dealer.

On Tuesday I go by there to check on the the progress and see what I needed to do for the financing paperwork. I get there and inquire with one of the employees on the status and he basically told me I needed to chill out because they ordered the wrong part, and once that was received my car would be fixed. He also stated that he doesn't know why the other employee told me that and by the way he was fired and is no longer with the company! At this point I was extremely upset because non of this information was relayed to me, and the only way I found out was because I went up there.

I expressed my dissatisfaction with the level of Customer Service given to me after I agreed to allow them to tow my car. I was again assured that my car would be ready by the end of the business day Wednesday. Once again I believed them and said okay. I call them on Wednesday morning to make sure my car was ready prior to me making yet another blank trip. Surprise no answer, after several attempts to reach someone I just went up there. When I got there I was informed my car was ready, and I probably would not get it back until sometime next week.

Fast forward to the end of the next week. I receive the call that my was ready and I could come in to do the paperwork and set up the payments. I get there with the information they required in hand, and I also had a flyer they had sitting in the office advertising what I stated above: no credit, check, no money down, and payments starting within 30 days of repair completion. We began doing the paperwork and the employee then looks at me and says how much are you putting down and when would you like your first payment to start?

I said nothing because you are advertising no money down, and in 2 weeks because that's my next payday! He then informs me they are under new management and that is old advertising. So I say if it's old advertising why are these sitting in plain view in the office right now, and still on the internet? He told me that it didn't matter because they were pulling that advertisement and would not be honoring it anymore. He then tells me he will not require me to put anything down but my payments would not be under the 30 days advertised.

I was quoted a repair price of $750.00 but by the time they had my car for almost 2 weeks the figure was now $1800 and once they added the finance charges my total debt was around $2200. My agreement was to pay them $100 biweekly for the balance. He has my car pulled around and then says "Oh yeah, we couldn't get your check engine light to go off." I was liek that light was not on when my car was brought in, and as a matter of fact that was not even the reason you were repairing the car! He then states that if I pay them a $75 fee they will look at it because these cars are sensitive and it may just be that the computer needs to be reset.

I was so frustrated by this point I humbly declined because I just wanted my car back! Fast forward again: in March they changed the way payments were collected and now all monies were to be made by mail. So I've been doing the mail payment thing for about a month, and miss a payment. My contract states I have a 10 day Grace Period, but my car is REPO'D! I call them to find out what I need to do. I am told I need to bring them $250.00 for the repo fee, my past due amount of $133, and my DL.

I get there with the requested items and ask the lady helping me if I can go get my money order for the missed payment out of the car because I had it but had forgot to mail it off. She says I cannot allow you to go to the vechile but I will send a rep out to retrieve the money order from the area you say it's located. I tell the rep where the MO is located and he goes out to get it. Approx 10 mins later he comes back and says there is nothing in the car. The lady then informs me that they had the repo company bring the car there to Mortor Maxx and the repo company took all the personal items out of the car.  She then informs me that I would need to take the repo company $100 to retrieve my personal property.

She was going to release the car to me and allow me to go get my stuff and bring back the $100 that was in the car. She had them pull my car up, and she went with her manager trying to be an advocate for me seeing that I had not missed but this 1 payment and my balance prior to the repo was only $617.00! By this time my brother comes in and says my tag is not on the car. The manager came into the office ans was rude and basically said though she saw I have always been on time and paid the balance down from $2200 to $617  told me that if she did that for me, she would have to do it for everyone.

So we drive 45 mins to Middleburg to retrieve the propery, then get back to Motor Maxx and the time is now 4:15. I walk in with the money order for $100 that was made out and dated for the payment due date and the manager that would release the car walks past me like 3 times when I finally said excuse me I'm back to pick up my car. She looks at me and points at a sign in their office that the last appointment is 4:30 and I would have to come back tomorrow. I became extremely upset and went off on her.

She then took me upstairs, took the payment, and released my car. The point of this post is so that another consumer on hard times does not fall into their trap. I would recommend a shade tree mechanic before I would send someone to this place. They get you in with their advertising then don't honor what they are putting out. That goes for the easy of getting repairs done to the cost estimate they provide. This place is all about the Bait N Switch!

Their business is not doing well so they have to repo cars when the amount owed to them is much less than the amount it cost to have the car repo'd all because they are shady and not making money. I wouldn't be surprised if their business practices are like this in order to steal peoples car from under them. One last thing make sure you have a quote or know what's wrong with your car because their mechanic work is shady though they love to promote their people are ASE certified. I'll just say that  after $1800 worth of work my car still smelled like burnt oil!!!
