When National City changed over to PNC I decided to stick with the new bank...not anymore!! I recevied no information on changes in fees and procedures, only my new bank card and when to activate it. As a result I found out the hard way what they neglected to inform me of.

PNC charges you an NSF fee for EVERY OVER DRAFT REGARDLESS OF WETHER OR NOT YOU DEPOSIT MONEY INTO THE ACCOUNT BEFORE CLOSE OF BUISNESS ON THE DAY IT WAS PRESENTED TO YOUR ACCOUNT! That means for example: if you stop to make a perchase on your way to the bank while your account is showing a positive balance, and a transaction posts 2 minutes before you get to the bank that over-draws your account, you will be charged $36.

In addition, if you have direct deposit for your paycheck, even though the account shows the deposit at midnight...the funds arent avalable untill 6am. So if you have a automatic bill payment that hits the account at 5:59 am and over-draws your account, you will be charged $36.

In all my years dealling with banks, any item posted to an account is pending until the close of buisness that day. The bank manager that I spoke with also confirmed that this was the policy with National City, and was shocked that PNC's policy is an "overdraft is an overdraft" regardless if money is deposited into the account before the close of buisness the day that the overdraft posted to the account. I seemes that PNC doesnt distinguish between pending and posted items.

No wonder PNC didnt need a government bail out....they decided to get it on the backs of customers they didnt bother to inform.
