I currently work at the National Magazine Exchange in Clearwater, Florida. Also known as Special Data Processing. While not fully illegal (like slimy used-car dealers, they know all the loop-holes, lingo and ins-and-outs of the law to stay in that gray but legal area).

This "company" hires all sorts of scum that they use to collect monies. Most of these people have no conscience, are greedy and materialistic, and would spit on there mother for a dollar. Also, these people treat customers like s**t. For instance, it is not uncommon to see an employee (it happens all around me, many times a day) answer a call from a customer, put them on hold for 10 minutes, and walk around shootin' the breeze with other employees. All the while, the customer is on hold. Futhermore, I have overheard these bastards say things like "f*** that old b***h, she thinks Im refunding her any money, she's gonna be waitin' a long time," or "stupid a*s customers trying to argue." Bad, very bad.

Walking down the halls of this giant corporate complex, one can hear all the brainless and brainwashed chanting and cheering all sorts of lame a*s slogans. One of the worst ones is "Buyers Are Liars!" I mean, come on man, what the hell kind of compnay treats its customer this way?

Make sure anyone out there watches there back when calling this place. They record everything you say, and even record you (and listen to you) when you are on hold. You are not even on hold at all, they operators just hit there MUTE button. They do this so they can hear someone on the line talking while thinking they are on hold. It gives them an "edge" as the supervisors like to put it.

This Company has an entire department (Huge Department) called Customer Retention. It is the job of these Customer Retention Associates to talk Customers out of Cancelling there "package." They are forced to offer customers "solutions" to there problems. Usually involves a promise of a 40 Dollar Gas Mail in Rebate Certificate. What a piece of s**t compensation piece. They fail to tell the customer that it takes four months to use (the customer has to mail in 1 ten dollar gas receipt per month for four months..what a jip), and is only good at a small amount of gas stations.

Anyway, I could go on and on, but anyone with half a brain would already realize this company is GREEDY, UN-ETHICAL, and SOULESS. I will witness its downfall.

Hi Steve. I am an ex-employee of SDP. I worked in their outbound call center. I found your comment to be rather amusing because you are badmouthing a company that provides you with a paycheck. Not all employees are like that. The customers are very rude and it is not fun to be sworn at on the phone. I have had times when I was tempted to curse them out. The way the ecomomy is right now you should be thankful you have a job rather than posting terrible things about them over the internet. If you don't like it quit. I'm sure they would be better off without you anyway.

Ex-Employee of National Magazine Exchange! Stay Away!!

Ex-Employee! This company is just out to screw employees and Customers! Most all the employees work from their home putting in very long hours. Sometimes 40-60 hours just to make ends meet. We have not received a raise in 7 years! The little spiffs that are given out as incentives are crap! $3 here $5 there. Our pay was dropped 4-5 times in one year! The worst of it is the way they are screwing the customers that call in for a sweepstakes drawing for 1 million dollars that is followed by a question on what the customer would do with a million dollars then when they least expect it... BOOM they are hit with the magazine sale! Employees are really pressured to sell sell sell and not take no for an answer even when the customer is yelling at them. Management is responsible for this. Customers have called me and complained about not being able to cancel their subscription due to a wrong telephone number or no one responding to their call. Employees are not aware of how to cancel this is done at another location or dept. Warning DO NOT CALL... SAVE YOUR TIME and MONEY!!!

I am also an ex employee of this company and everything Steve says is true. I was not only an SSA (the person you get when you answer the phone initially) but a verifier as well, and did well without the greediness and pushing. I left due to the fact that management was forcing everyone to become more aggressive and less respectful to customers. I don't think being cocky with customers like Satan's Sales Associate is the answer, and I used to be one of the top salespeople in the entire company. Back then, they let us be nice. I draw the line at badgering and harrassing people, and left for a better job because in my opinion, the company went totally downhill when the president left (taking some good people with him).

Now, management is full of overly rude, aggressive and inept people, who think threats towards their team members will do the trick. I never fell for intimidation, and they respected me for it. Actually got a letter recently begging for me to come back. NO way.

Satan's Sales Associate, you just prove how ignorant, greedy and rude some SSA's are, and those are what is left over there. It's a shame. Those of us who cared about our customers all left, it seems, leaving desperate people who will get the sale by sleazy tactics and rudeness. Sad. Open your eyes, stop being stupid and ignorant. There are better companies out there, who don't force employees to rebuttal and slick-talk their customers for sales. And we make a lot more money than at SDP (National Mag Exchg).

Steve I couldnt agree with you more everyone should be encouraged to file complaints with myflorida.com recently a large call center was closed for doing just what special data does in florida telemarketing rooms are regulated by florida dept of agriculture funny but true many are being shut done because there employees do not have individual telemarketing liecences which are required if every one would complain they would be closed too The number of complaints ove the years sickens me they are commiting fraud when they state you can cancell anytime and them refuse to allow the customers too
