After looking on-line for storage file boxes for our office I went to the store around the corner (as we have done in the past) to get them. They were to come in a 'CT' accdg. to the website (I assumed 6/box as every other item was). They didn't have what we were using so I consulted an employee about ordering them. In the catalog they were only 4-count so I looked at other brands. I was pleased to find a 6-count of a similar product for less money, which I ordered.

What I received was a single item for each type I ordered. Fine, error as it may be, but what repulses me about the experience is the customer service from that point on. The store wanted nothing to do with me and sent me to a call/shipping center where I severely interrupted this young lady from whatever magazine she may have been reading.

I stated my case as simply as possible and proceeded to sit there and listen to her type for several minutes before she said 'Please hold' immediately followed by terrible music for the next few minutes. When she picked up again, she rambled directly into mundane excuses. Not answering any question, nor offering any possible solutions. This went on a few times.

Where does this defensive attack come from? All I wanted was for them to either make good on their sale or take the product back. I didn't call them for the attitude and fight she was trying to pick with me! With so many other choices, you'd think they would care to keep a customer. Not that we're huge but we have a lot of contacts, people trust us because we don't treat them the way I was treated.

Thank you for the opportunity to show my support of any office supplier other than OfficeMax.

AUTHOR: Michael - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, May 27, 2007

i bought an epson cx 6000 printer on 5/07 after getting it to work it started spinning nonstop and it said to remove jammed paper. but there was nothing jammed in it! i took the printer back to our batavia,ny officemax and they were so nice! the woman simply said go get another one and everything is taken care of. i didnt even have to sign anything! the new one works beautifully! this is an example of excellent customer service. i took it back, explained what was wrong with it and walked out with a new one in less than 5 minutes!

OfficeMax Orders

AUTHOR: Erik - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, November 30, 2006

During the years I worked at OfficeMax I processed numerous orders. Each order is done through a system called "OrderMax." The only time the actual store is able to assist you in orders is before the order is placed. Once the order is made and you receive the item(s) we are no longer able to help much. As sad as this is I ran into this problem quite often.

However, the best solution is to talk to a manager and see about returning the item in store. All you need is the packaging slip that came with the product(s). We hated to do this because we still needed to ship the item back to the distribution center ourselves but were more than happy to help. The possible reason you were directed to the call center (if it wasn't the toll-free number) was because the associate was clueless to OrderMax. Corporate had claimed OrderMax would be changed last year and to my knowledge is unfortunately still the same.

GOOD EXPERIENCES WITH OFFICEMAX

AUTHOR: Al - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 26, 2006

I am not a shill or an employee of OfficeMax. I've been a regular shopper of OfficeMax ever since they build one in my area (when it was called Office Warehouse). I stop by there weekly to check on their clearance tables (last weekend it was 20% off the lowest marked price, which had great deals on laptop and desktop memory, and I had several $10 off coupons for $20 purchases). Never had any problems in store for any reason, everyone helpful, always someone around to ask you if they could help.

It shows me that at this OfficeMax the managment took customer service seriously (I think that most retal compaints on this site can be contributed directly to management). Oddly enough, I ordered from their web site for the first time last week when they had a 19" lcd monitor on sale and I had a $30 off coupon and free shipping, made it quite a deal. I ordered on 9/21/06 and received on 9/25/06. Since I live in the sticks I had it delivered to my workplace; Here come red flag #1 - the monitor was delivered in its retail packaging without any additional protection other than it's thin foam, and the box looked excessivly worn, given it was delivered by UPS.

Red flag #2 - the box had obviously been opened and the monitor removed before because of the way it was packed (the 'bottom' of the monitor should've been up top because it folds and acts like a handle to remove the monitor' and the zip lock bags for the cables weren't closed. When i got home and hooked this thing up it had color bars streaks on the right side of the display, regardless if it had a computer signal or not. Disappointed I was. Called the customer service number on the invoice, explained my concern, asked if I could return this item to the local Officemax, they said no problem, my local officemax had 6 in stock.

Sure I had to drive 30 min to exchange it. Took five minutes from entering the door and leaving with my new monitor. no fuss,no forms. This has been a consistant experience with Officemax in my area, 'Yours may vary'.

Peace y'all
