Patience Bristol is a private guardian whose rip-off killed my father.

Dad moved to Las Vegas in 1998.  He and mom lived a happy life until mom died in 2008.  In 2010 dad had a nervous breakdown. My husband and I live in Utah, which is right across the Nevada state boarder in Saint George.   We have a six bedroom home and the fact our children are grown left plenty of room for dad.  My husband is a doctor and Im a school psychologist for our local school district.  Weve never filed for bankruptcy and our credit score is in the high 700s.  I say all of this to emphasize the corruption in the Nevada family courts committed by Patience Bristol, Jared Shafer and family court commissioner John Norheim.

Jared Shafer and Patience Bristol insisted on becoming a guardian for my father.  They blocked him from leaving Nevada. 

Commissioner John Norheim said he saw nothing out of the ordinary when reviewing the actions of Bristol and Shafer.  The two guardians blocked us from visiting my father.  We hired an attorney and a long court battle began. 

When we received the first accounting statement from Patience Bristol, we found my father had been billed $250 per hour by Patience.  Patience had charged the account $50,000 for 200 hours of so-called guardian work product, which she never completed. The bill contained visits that didnt take place, discussions with us, which never happened, doctor visits, which never occurred, and trips to a church of a religion my father never practiced.  Commissioner Jon Norheim approved the bill.

My father had moments of clarity and he realized what was happening to him.  When he confronted Patience Bristol, she told him to shut up. 

On February 27, 2012 dad killed himself.  He slashed his wrists.  The note left behind stated he couldnt stand what Patience Bristol and Jared Shafer had done to him and his family. 

The Nevada police, courts and so-called elder protective services refuse to help, claiming fathers death is a civil matter. 
While searching the Internet I found a large number of reports written by victims who have been harmed by Patience Bristol and Jared Shafer.  Im adding my report to this group.  Perhaps it is because it makes me feel better and hopefully enough people will read and understand the corruption going on in the Las Vegas family court system. It is all about stealing a seniors money, robbing them of their dignity and finally their life.  Patience Bristol and Jared Shafer treat each family as if they were a target in a game where only Shafer and Bristol know the rules.  The two guardians appear to receive some type of perverted pleasure watching families struggle as they fight for the rights of their loved ones. 

After having several discussions with Mr. Shafer it is my conclusion to speculate that if he reads this report he will find it to be funny.  It appears Bristol has followed in his footsteps.
