I was actually ripped off by PayPal over a year ago, but only recently did I find out that they are still actively pursuing money I do not believe I owe them. Here's my story.

I created a PayPal account the other day and the account was working fine and dandy. Entered in all my valid info, no problems there. Even social security number, everything. I even requested a PayPal Debit Card, which I got and started using. Then all of a sudden, PayPal disables my account because they believe I owe them $472 and change from last year. I had an account last year with them, which I had actually had since like 2008 and never had a problem with it. I sold an iPhone on eBay (I had an eBay account with 100% positive feedback, almost 350 feedbacks and no negatives). I uploaded tracking info and everything.

Well, the buyer claimed he "didn't get it" even though the tracking info says it left the country (international transaction). Well, despite my great feedback and the fact I have never had an issue with PayPal or eBay before (and I have sold many many many expensive items, other iPhone's, PS3's MacBooks, iMac's, things worth even more than the old phone I sold and was scammed on), PaPal ruled in favor of the buyer. I looked it up and apparently, they always do, no matter what. They ALWAYS rule in favor of the buyer even if its clear the buyer is a con.

So, they expect me, a poor college student, to pay them $472 for an iPhone I shipped, AND HAVE PROOF I SHIPPED, and I never got back? Now I admit, I SHOULD have gotten shipping insurance. But I didn't, I really wasn't aware of it at the time and honestly on top of that, I really didn't think this would ever happen to me because I have sold so much on eBay and have never had an issue before. I now am an Amazon seller and I always insure everything I ship. I haven't had any issues with Amazon either.

Anyway, back to PayPal. After they demanded $472, I stopped using them. They would call me endlessly day after day, no less than 6 times a day, and, get this, they'd hang up on me! Every time I answered! No joke! I guess they were pissed I wasn't paying them the money so they just kept playing games. Eventually, after about 3 months or so, the calls stopped. Well actually, I changed phone numbers. That's why they stopped. They're probably still calling that old number. Wouldn't surprise me.

Anyway, that was all in the past. After I changed my number, I forgot about PayPal and started doing business on Amazon (as I still do). My mother is an eBay seller and, on occasion, when I needed to sell something used (used stuff doesn't sell for as much on Amazon as it does on eBay, so I prefer eBay), she would sell it for me. So, after all this time, I figured maybe PayPal realized it wasn't my fault and cleared up all the mess. So I created a new account, started using it, as I said, with all my info, I didn't lie about anything at all.

I even got money in the account ($10) and then BAM PayPal disables it and demands all this money! Apparently, after checking around a little bit more, they sent the debt to a collection agency as well! I am NOT paying this absurd amount of money PayPal. If I wasn't poor, I would. Just to get you off my back. But I am poor, I have no money. I cannot pay you $472 because you chose to rule in favor of a con artist. I want this mess cleared up once and for all. I have proved my loyalty to my buyers, just check my feedback.

This was a one time thing because of a con artist buyer, it's not my fault. I want this mess cleared up! I would like to be able to use PayPal once again, like old times, but most importantly, I want this $472 taken OFF my credit report! I do NOT owe you this money and I will NOT pay it. As I said, I cant! I do not have it! Maybe I can send you $25. That's about it. But only if you clear up everything.
